I never would have guessed that was Allison. He looks to be 75 years old. The guy could feather a pass.
I was also surprised guys like Samsonov, possibly.. Thornton? My personal favorite from that era was Rob Dimaio.

I actually expected guys like Jay, LB, Billy O’ Dwyer and Shoe.
A lot of them were there at the game - I went to see my 2 friends who work there and they were busy with the guests (former players) ; they only picked 16? People to go out on ice

Im with you on Samsonov

After game I went downstairs and hung out and a friend told me she heard they invited Joe Thornton (whom I assumed would have replaced Allison) but he declined - never going back to Boston, still upset. And his mother is not a fan even moreso

Thornton would have been a heck of a twist and I think he would have been shocked at his ovation how loud it would have been

Sorry Mike O’Connell you F’d up

Thornton & Bergeron - Krejci down the middle ?

Thornton just means they don’t sign savy

Axxelson, Tim Taylor, Glen Murray…..Dafoe….Oates, Juneau….Markwart… Lemelin. I know you have to draw the line somewhere, but big Z not being there is just wrong. He’s basically the guy who made this team a champion again. The captain and the face of the franchise for over a decade. He should have stood at center ice to a ten minute standing ovation.

Newton, MA.
You're wrong.

One is out of the country, and the other two have day jobs with St Louis.
My apologies.

1) Z was unable to attend an event that had been scheduled months in advance.

2) Is there a league rule prohibiting a manager or
coach presently employed elsewhere from participating in a ceremony with their former club?

Hey I thought it was a no brainah Chara & Bergeron walk out there. So gotta think something up.

I know it’s his life and he wanted to play but selfishly I was hoping he retired here after 20??

Going to NYI and Caps a shame especially the story his young family stayed here

Everyone’s different I admit I’d retire, hang with kids, be a Bruins ambassador and do a lot of community work for my Feed & Read Foundation, Spay & Neuter cause all in the name of the Bruins and my iconic stature

Yeh I selfishly really hate he played elsewhere

Kind of put a little cloud on an otherwise sunny career to me

The Quiet Corner
Shesterkin has a GA around 3.00
The Rangers are playing crap and he's finding out quickly it's a team sport.
The team plays crappy, it'll drag you down.

Wonder if he still wants his 12 million?

Of course he does. Lately he’s been keeping them in games where otherwise they’d get blown out. This reminds me of his predecessor Lundqvist a lot.

A day spent in the history books followed by a win over the hated Habs. Great games by the Charlie's. There was talk the other day in one of these threads about the flying monkeys in the Wizard of Oz. One flew off Pasta's back after he scored. Don't let the little bastard back in the building. Kastelic may not always show up on the scoresheet but he always does when it comes to having a teammates back. If I may be a little picky on such a festive day it would be we didn't spend enough time in their end on the forecheck and spent too much time backing into our own. And Brad, if Ma was still here she would tell you to keep your stick to yourself late in the game. But history has been written and on the anniversary of the Hundred Year War it reads Bruins 6-Montreal 3.

My favorite part about today's broadcast was the interview with Taz and Nifty during the second intermission. That really took me back to my youth...It was awesome. Best part was Taz telling the story about the time he accidentally punched Andy Van Hellemond during a scrum.

The game was pretty good too. Nice to see Charlie Mac get some of his swagger back.
#24 also deliberately punched Van Hellemond in the face at the end of G7 in the
1982 SCPO series against Quebec, trying to get at Dale Hunter and was suspended
a bunch of games at start of next season. Honestly I think that maybe #24 trying to
gloss over that incident.

They beat the team with the second poorest record in the league on a night where it would've been severely embarrassing if they lost. Good news is the team with the worst record is on Wed.
That team with the worst record going into last night, had a goal differential 9-10 goals better than Boston. I can see Boston easily losing that game if they beat Detroit on Tuesday night.

Well to be fair, if we're going to use Kastelic's current pace as a judgement of what he'll bring the rest of the way out, we have to do the same for Ullmark - so it would be a quality 4th liner, a quality backup goaltender, and a 1st round pick for a guy with the 37th save percentage and worst GAA in the league.
Come on, Ullmark won a Vezina two years ago and Kastelic being a fine 4th liner
isn't something to rag on Ottawa about. Lets see where Ullmark is at the 4Nations point and then talk.

Because you gave a snarky question saying itl seem inexcusable. Don’t try and backtrack your usually trolling self.
About a third the responses on this board are "snarky". Somehow I think Chara will survive the character assasination.

We need to get Koepke signed to a new contract.
He’s pretty solid - smart guy learned well in the Tampa organization

He was brought up in a first rate run organization and he does a lot of the little things well

clearly Pro scouting nailed Koepke & Kastelic

Shesterkin was outstanding in the loss to the Flyers on Friday.
Flyers are terrible so doesn’t count

Didn't mind Chara playing elsewhere. He spent 8 seasons in the league before he came to Boston.

Now Bobby Orr playing in Chicago, that hurt.

I've always said Ullmark was a good goaltender and that it isn't fair to judge the trade going with the early results. I was just playing along with the conversation.

Marchy probably said after the game he knows that was a bad penalty to take and he can't be doing that. Until the next time he does it and says the same thing after the game.

Who's scared of Arber Xhekaj?
Not Mark Kastalic.

Not yet.

They're not as terrible as Montreal.

Or the Bruins.

For the love of God, can we give it a break on Chara?

If we find out he purposely chose not to show up and was caught pissing on the Bobby Orr statue, then have at it.

Until then, who the f*** knows? Stop assuming the worst.

Let's not turn this place into the local (Your Town) Neighborhood blog.

- A guy knocked on my door yesterday, anyone know who he is?

- Call the police.
- Spread his picture around so everyone knows he's on the loose.
- Did you get his license plate number?

You "kids" who don't know a world before social media and the internet have been well and truly screwed. The world used to be at least a tiny bit less trigger finger hysteria driven than it is today.

It's so silly to see, isn't it. Chara's earned a ton of rope in this town - let him use it.

Good game outside of the usual going to sleep in the third period. Though this one is at least understandable given they were up big..

- McAvoy? Yeah, more of this version. Looked way more decisive in his play. Less mistakes, more confidence.

- Defense went back to being structured.

- Swayman wasn't too hot, but didn't need to be.

My only pause for concern is this Montreal team is really bad. Defensive miscues everywhere, Primeau i think by statistics is the worst goalie in the league right now. Might have been a mirage but a win's a win. (though if you lit these clowns up, why couldn't you with pittsburgh?)
Still I'd like to see the $8M dollar man let in less than 3 goals.

That Dimaio, Taylor, PJ line was great.

Also, it is sad that is probably the most memorable part of that era, lol.

Geez, Phil has nice teeth (if they're still mostly his)
Dude, no player from his era retains their original choppers.

Bob Clark, Stanley Cup champion, '74,

For whatever reason I cannot post an image of then Flyers GM Clarkie from the 1990s.

His artificial pearly whites are blinding.
