Crazy. He was born in December of 2008! Won AJGA player of the year in 2023. He’s what the golf media wants Charlie Woods to be.

Scottie. Best since tiger. Deal with it.

Rahm had 4 wins through the Masters last year. Scottie gets his 4th the week after. People were saying Rahm would win the single season Grand Slam and he didn’t win the rest of the year. Didn’t win player of the year. Hasn’t won since.

Scottie is the flavor of the month. He needs to show some staying power in terms of winning at an elite rate. 2 majors and 9 total wins doesn’t compare to what some of the others have.

It’s a long way to the top.

I don't know. I feel pretty good saying this stretch is the best since Tiger. He's actually doing exactly what people were saying last year - if he just putted average, like half of all those top-5s would turn into Ws. And he came into this event off of like zero prep, on a course where bombing it off the tee isn't quite as valuable as it is most weeks... lots of reasons were in place to explain away a middling finish here, yet there he is in front by 5, once again!

I certainly didn't have this sense of inevitability with Rahm, Rory, DJ, any of the others.

You are calling a dude with less than 10 PGA Tour wins at age 27 the best player since Tiger.

Slow the hell down on the grandiose proclamations about his place in history.

This guy is on a heater. Rahm was on a better heater a year ago. When he sustains winning at an elite level, we can talk about his place in history.

In fact, your initial post on this topic was bait.

Spieth's 2015 has to be up there ahead of Scheffler too. 5 wins, 2 majors, t-4 and 2nd and the majors he didn't win.

It is just April though, I'd love to see Scheffler win every major this year.

He has 10 wins once you give him the one he has a 5 stroke lead in.

He just was the biggest favourite since Tiger at the masters. Went in and won anyway. He’s lost to one guy by one shot in his last 5 starts. He’s been world number one for 80? Weeks.

Rahm absolutely did not have a better heater last year btw.

Keep hating , you didn’t even say a word after the Masters haha

Because it's tiring hearing the same nauseating stuff. I can't waste my time arguing with all the dumbness. People who supposedly claim to follow golf forget all the things they said this time last year about Rahm. Rahm now hasn't even won a golf tournament since. Whose going to go on a heater next year? It'll be someone else.

This Scheffler love is to generate interest and clicks and to find entertaining narratives. When Scheffler has like 3 majors and 20 tour wins at 36, will he still be the best since Tiger or a bunch of people got carried away from a guy on a heater? If he has 8 majors and 45 wins after sustaining an elite winning pace for 10 years, I'll apologize.

Alright I guess we'll just ignore the best player in men's golf cause you don't like it .

You think Scottie wins only 1 more major in the next 10 years? How much you want to bet on it??

Or he’ll win like 2 or 3 more. He’s not winning 5 or 6 more. No one other than Tiger in the past 20 years has more than 5.

When he wins his 6th, I’ll have a Scheffler avatar for a year on this website. Don’t feel remotely concerned it’ll happen.

I don't understand the thought that he needs to win all these majors to be the best since Tiger. Best since Tiger =/= as good as Tiger. It just means he's the best of everyone that's come after (meaning post-2009).

I'm seeing Scottie's PGA Championship odds as low as +300, which would be the lowest anyone's been since Tiger at the 2009 PGA. The sportsbooks seem to think he's a cut above the others. Data Golf has this current Scottie run as the 2nd best peak of the last ~30 years in strokes gained, with Rahm in 6th place, Spieth 7th, Day 8th, Rory 9th. They think he's the best of the bunch too...

Nobody was saying Scottie was the best since Tiger in his original big stretch in 2022 with four Ws in six starts. The difference this time around is his insane consistency since that first stretch. He has more wins since November 2022 than he does finishes outside of the top 10. Yeah, if you just reduce it down to just wins and just majors and nothing else, he's just the same as Rahm. But are we comparing Wikipedia pages or are we comparing talent?

Tiger had to accept a special invitation to the US Open. I think that’s the first time maybe ever he’s needed that for a major.
