Krebs simplified his game a bit this past year, and I think that was a good thing (no more blind soft drop passes after just entering the offensive zone). However, I hope the creative passes come back at some point. He delivers passes sometimes that make your jaw drop.

The passing is there. The stuff that works in juniors and not in the pros needed to be buffed out of his game and mostly was. He is smarter now with the puck where he will reverse things below the goal line more often but the ability to create is still there.

I see a lot of people wanting to trade him, but I wonder, with more development he becomes that bottom-6 matchup center who’s defensively responsible and can motivate our group while getting under the opponent’s skin.

Krebs came into the NHL with high offensive potential. I think he could develop into a top 6 center that produces points but also evolves into a Selke candidate. Likely? I don't know but that was how he was seen when drafted. (His ankle injury absolutely caused him to drop in his draft year.)

But there's not really a spot for him in our top 6, especially at Center. I'm not looking to trade him, to be clear, but team's looking for a 2-way top 6 center may make an offer that couldn't, or shouldn't, be refused. He has that potential, and he's still only 22.

I for one hope they see him as much more than a defensive matchup center and get him away from that role next season. Go overpay someone that's actually made a career doing that dirty work for the role.

He wasn’t in that role last year. No one really was.

It would nice to see him with better offensive linemates though. Possibly centering Greenway/Mitts

I hope he's not the new Girgenson.
No chance of that but it is a bit concerning that his offensive side of the game has not come together at the NHL level. He had very good numbers in the AHL and WHL but has yet to see his offensive game mature at the NHL level.

I think this year is going to be a big tell on whether of not Krebs is a top 6 or bottom 6 player.

Not sure how he can be a top 6 player, unless he figures out wing.

I would listen to trading him. Mitts is fine at 3C and we Have Savoie Kulich and Ostlund as potential centers. Krebs has the vision but feels like he lacks the ability to execute it.

Krebs is an example of a guy we rushed into the NHL. He could have used another full AHL season.

Yeah. He's not going to replace Cozens or Tage on the top two lines, though Cozens could move to wing making room for Krebs in the top-6 if Krebs makes it impossible not to give him top-6 ice time.

My hope is he becomes a pesky third line center who can pot 40 (ish) points a year.

Boy, is it nice to have some serious center depth beginning to form. Tage/Cozens has to be one of the more enticing young, top-6 center duos in the NHL.

Isn't top 6 / top 9 basically just semantics at this point? Unless they change their deployment going forward? Forward 4 (Mitts, 13:17) and Forward 9 (Peterka, 12:08) were only about a minute apart in ESTOI/G. Hopefully next season they can role three legit scoring lines.

I think he can carve out a role in the same way Cirelli carved one out on Tampa. And I wouldn't be mad one bit if he that's all he became. If Krebs and Mittelstadt can be the driving forces for that sort of line, it could create matchup advantages.

There’s a lot to like about Krebs, but his puck management needs a lot of work still. I’m not sure if he’s ever going to “get it”. He plays hard every shift so I’m sure he will carve out a role somewhere in the NHL, but I don’t know what his offensive upside is if he doesn’t figure out how to be more responsible with the puck on his stick. I think he could probably be a good 3C still though.

Same things being said now about Krebs were said about some other guy with a Dutch sounding name.
