Ah so regression from his rookie year as his ceiling? Sounds like an IPS take for a non leaf!
Absolutely will regress. Anyone who thinks he's shooting 19.4% for a whole year is completely out to lunch. Easily one of the most overrated youngsters on HF.

30 goals 65-70 points sounds about right IMO

Hot takes aren't supposed to be steaming

Regress him to a 13% shooting percentage and he still would have had a 66 point pace as a 19/20 year old rookie

Petey's great, but I think he can be a little overrated. Fantastic tools and vision, but he did run hot the first half and he needs to get stronger. In a similar season to last year I think he can hit 90+ in a good year, but I don't think that will be the norm.

90+ seems a little low to have as the highest option for the vote. After all, he scored 66 points in 71 games as a 20yo rookie, which already is some 75p pace. It's reasonable to assume he can develop further.

Most players ceilings and floors are dramatically understated around here. I'm not saying he's a lock to be a 90+ player consistently, but if he becomes the best player he possibly can be he obviously will. I mean, if you asked after their draft date, what do you think the average poster here would say about Kucherov or Gaudreau's ceiling is? They'd probably laugh if I predicted exactly what they are now. Now, in reverse, if I told people what Yakupov and G. Reinhart were today, they'd call me a biased hater of those players or team, because there floor had to be way higher as a top 5 pick.

Well after barzals first year people wrrr saying anything under 90 pts would be a joke since he hit 85, not everyone is him but it should keep things in perspective. Barzal is still amazing and while I don’t see as much regression points wise in EP , he did did slow down as the season went on but his skill set is absolutely incredible. I have faith he in a full season would still get 70 points at least and I could definitely see him getting around 95 Pts in one of his best years. My only concern for him is by everyone can take the media in cities tor, Mtl or Van and of course his size. He got tossed around a lot and injure twice already.

On a side note his value due to the Gretzky comments, comparisons, and polar viewpoints by many have conflicted his value. I think John Garrett snd snet did everything he/hey could last year to say his name or talk about him every two seconds when he wasn’t even on the ice. The dude literally broke out in a sweat and started yelling when kotkaniemi “injured” him (the cameras went on him so yes the sweat was real) then again we’re talking about a guy who has picked he Canucks to win the cup every year he’s been a professional broadcaster. (At least this was the thing said about him back in the day I stopped hearing it in 2010) considering they were great then it wouldn’t surprise if he has ever since of stopped a few years ago.

I think sportsnet tried to “sell hope, sell hope” to the point of being redundant. This is relevant because it can effect perception.

Not only was snets agenda obvious from a marketing perspective (and reasonable the Canucks are on the rise) but Doug McLean would talk every intermission about how this Vancouver team is going to be so fun to watch and How they are already because of EP, but every morning on hockey central at noon when he knew most Vancouver fans would be working, sleeping or in school at the hours of 9am would joke to kypreos about “maybe being excited actually to do the Vancouver game tonight.” (And comments to that nature)

Regardless despite a lot of people being everywhere regarding him, the general consensus is too five center at best, top 15-20 center at worst I would think.

I'd agree his shooting % won't stay that high, but he's more of a playmaker anyway and you actually have him being less of a playmaker...either way I suppose we shall see but I would be SHOCKED if he has hit his peak in his immature body playing a position he hasn't played on smaller ice than he's used to.
