My estimate is a solid 80-89 per season with a spike that takes him to around 100 points in his prime. It's pretty much the same projection i have with Eichel.

Something like Sean Monahan is what I would call his ceiling. Pettersson is a pretty good player but he tends to get way overrated.

That's a way off comparison.

Pettersson is like a Aho clone in terms of style of play... except a couple inches taller.
I think Pettersson will eventually be the better player... so 90+ is my hope.

I'd be really curious what weight he shows up to camp in.

It should be interesting what kind of size he can get up too.

I'm actually hoping he's not that much bigger unless he's started naturally filling out. Virtanen, Juolevi and Boeser have all had issues with bulking up too much and having it affect their games, and at a certain point you need to start questioning the team trainers.

I think he will have a career which mirrors Giroux, but better at a younger age. 100+ points at least once, always around or above ppg.

A lot will depend on how much support he gets.

Pettersen is a far more natural goal scorer than Giroux is. Not a good comparison if you are looking for comparables.

IMO the Gretzky and Datsyuk comparisons are somewhat just, at least stylistically. The kid just oozes talent in a way that I find only Dahlin is similar to. I'm confident he can score 90+ and maybe more under the right circumstances.

Time will tell. He did have a 9 goal/season bump over Giroux's career average, but he also shot nearly 20%. I could see him having close to the same point totals with 5-8 more goals and fewer assists, but a general similar arc in terms of calibre of player.

90 plus and I see him becoming an assist machine once his line mates can actually play with him. Kid will be a perennial 30 goal scorer with 60 apples every year by 3rd year. He will definitely break 100 a few times especially if scoring stays up like this past season.

It took Giroux 4 NHL seasons to score 28 goals. Pettersen scored 28 in his rookie year in just 71 games in his first year. Your comparison is odd. Giroux is more known more for his playmaking than as a goal scorer.

He just scored at a 76 point pace in his rookie season so you'd have to consider that number his "floor" as a peak season (since it already happened).

If you think the ceiling for a rookie player on a 76 point pace is less than 90 points, I don't even know what to tell you. I don't care if he got ridiculously lucky (I'm not suggesting this btw), you'd have to assume he's going to have a lucky season at least once in his career again.

Ceiling doesn't mean that's what he will do, just that's what he COULD do and he definitely COULD get 90.

So basically 22% of people are just completely wrong here.

The way the NHL is developing it better be 90+.
Yeah i would say a better way to ask would be top 5 in scoring, 5 to 10, 10 to 20. Id say he will probably peak around top 8 to 10 in scoring. So top 10 i guess at peak.

I’d say he comes from the Marner/Gadreau school of players except he seems to have an extra gear in his head. Some people have a ridiculous ability to perceive certain physical happenings. Pettersson quite obviously has that by my eye. In the way that Patrick Kane is a similar player but obviously more physically gifted than those two, I see Pettersson as similar but with better vision. So if those two had what I think will be a career years at 90ish points I’ll say Elias could get to 110 if he achieves his ceiling. We’ll see. I think he’ll be the best player of his type for the next 15 years. Top 10 player going forward in my opinion.

I remember some scouts calling him a two-way forward in his draft year. If he sticks with the combo of being responsible defensively but also incredibly dangerous and versatile offensively, the sky's the limit for this kid.

This is not going to age well. If you think he is overrated after actually watching him this might not be the sport you identify with.

His ceiling is the most dynamic player in the game. Nobody else really plays like he does. And if he could take his unique IQ and combine it with a more mature and stronger frame he could do special things in his career.

Probably won't hit hit it. Few ever even get close. But if we are talking ceilings that's it.

Honestly, it's probably not a lot higher than it is now. These early years are often proving to be the peak. I mean, look at Crosby. People assumed he'd go on to score 150-200 points a year but his best points haul is still his Sophomore season.
