One thing I know about building a competitive NHL team is if you had superstars in the past but didn't win a cup with them, you have to immediately cut off any future players from the same nation.

Yet another reason why lots of players don’t wanna play in a media crazed market.
These types of situations happen every year on every team but now the media is obsessed with it cause it’s a Canadian media crazed team and it’s become a massive distraction

Players have fights, or get mad at each other, but not to the extent of this.
If this happens every year, there's an issue, especially considering this particular issue has been going on since last year
Based on the comments from Tocchet and Hughes I have to imagine the team sticks with it until the offseason and if nothing has been resolved maybe then they move on from one of them.

I can't believe this is apparently a thing, but ok, if it's really devolved as much as the reports seem to be saying, then I would say moving Miller makes the most sense, regardless of EP40's flaws. Considering his age and history of much better performance not so long ago, and his recent enough worse performance, VAN would take an L on trading him, no matter what.
I agree with the idea that Miller to NYR in a deal involving Zibanejad makes a lot of sense. NYR's locker room is already broken, very obviously, so might as well try something. Miller's contract is slightly better, so some kind of add from NYR's side should be expected, but not like a 1st or top prospect or anything.
Or, I wonder if something like this could make sense, when Hronek gets back or gets closer to returning:
Miller + Hronek (no NTC) for Zibanejad + Schneider
NYR has the cap space for this with Trouba traded for minimal salary in return and presumably wants to stay in contention, Hronek could thrive in a 2nd pairing role behind Fox, and VAN gets about 5M in cap space to make adjustments to the roster, plus adds a nice younger piece in Schneider at a position of need, at the cost of a player who has performed excellently with Hughes, but hasn't been extremely consistent, nor does Hughes need him to perform at his best anyway.
No idea if this really makes sense or not, I imagine NYR fans like Schneider too much to do this, and the cap space exchange is probably not realistic, but it's an interesting thought...

Work is work. You think just because they get paid more they’re immune to the same kind of workplace drama as any other job?
If anything the stakes are way higher. More money at play, you and your teammates’ physical wellbeing at risk, and your collective underperformance tends to draw the scrutiny and ridicule of millions of strangers.
Bruins would take one of your centers, the money would work better than Petterson, Elias Lindholm, would be good for your team, maybe an add.
Miller was traded for a first and has increased his value. Hronek was traded for a first and has increased his value. Zib is a negative value asset. NYR adds significantly.

You're probably right, but Miller's value will be affected by needing to waive a NMC. Same with Zibanejad of course, but VAN can't leverage getting a better deal elsewhere, beyond the few options Miller would allow. I wonder how much of a + from NYR would still make this palatable from their side...

Feel like Miller in Buffalo could more than likely create more friction/problems in Buffalo, not something they need.
Though I guess they do need someone to call them out and hold them accountable
And, if Dahlin was on the table, he’d return a lot more than Miller
Weaponize the cap space? I can promise you there's no better way to spend $8m than on Miller. Literally anything else at that price point is a downgrade.
I can almost get trading Miller to try to please the butthurt, overpaid swede because he's younger. It's still a shit for brains move if your goal is to win a cup, but I almost kinda get it.
But to trade Miller to weaponize the cap space? You already have the weapon and his name is Miller
