why would Carolina need to revisit the trades? The manager is different now, and Necas has found his game. so they don't need Petey Or miller.

this is a Canuck issue. Its unlikely Canucks will get a lateral trade. Take the standard, 1 prospect, a 1st round pick and middle roster player. Use that cap room for Free agency, lol

I’m f***ing done with these two. Trade them both. Two of our highest paid players and can’t even get along or whatever is being reported.
It’s so goofy

management is like wtf? How could have we expected this?

What a selfish problem to indulge in for the players.

Both types of players are needed to win but have decided to fight like Semin between each other.

Hence the trade. Both teams hope a change of scenery helps.
Both players are the same age and have the same contract.

Vancouver has a long history with Swedish players: Sundin, the Sedins, Pettersson. The GM is Swedish. Maybe they can convince Zibanejad to waive for Vancouver.

Vancouver needs a RH center and a RH one-timer threat on the PP. Zibanejad also is a great PKer.

The Rangers could use more pricks in the locker room. Apparently Trocheck and Miller are close.

It almost makes too much sense.

Can someone please post one compelling thing that indicates a true rift between Pettersson and Miller?

I'd love to hear specific details as well. But hearing Hughes and Tocchet respond to specific questions with generalized answers while not directly denying it is pretty damning imo. If there was no rift they'd say exactly that, not give generic answers like "not everyone gets along all the time but we still have to play as a team" bullshit.

At this point, I think so too. There's been a history of MIller having beef with Boeser, Horvat, and most recently Pettersson.

At what point does Pettersson's antics become an issue though? From the build up of the re-signing, his 60 game disappearing act, his lack of mental toughness etc.

You're going to make that guy a franchise cornerstone and realistically expect to win a Stanley Cup? You need someone like Miller to offset the glaring weaknesses that Pettersson brings to the table. It's a shame these guys can't just get along for the benefit of the franchise.

If they really can't work this out amongst themselves like the men they're supposed to be I honestly think management should trade them both.

89 points last year is a worrying decline to you? He averaged almost 1 minute less ice time and had 13 less points than the year before. He also has a career worst shooting percentage currently. He will be fine.
Yes because edge stats show he was skating slower and shooting softer. Not to mention he fell off a cliff after signing his deal.

Turns out it was a worrying decline because he's even worse this year.

His stats did not fall of a cliff after signing, they started falling off a cliff a solid 20 games before signing. I keep seeing this incorrect narrative repeated. His stats started getting worse at the exact time he injured his knee.

Imagine being paid millions of dollars to play a game and then cause this kind of stink because you don’t like your coworker. Unreal

Ah ok thanks for the correction. Just trying to give an approximate time. Not saying he stopped caring after signing. I think something is seriously wrong.

It's a mixture of things for him imo. He is not at 100%, his shot and speed are noticeably off from last year. Tocchets's offensive system is a black hole. It's all dump & chase and the only time stuff really happens is when Hughes is on the ice, and JT Miller gets more of that ice time. The powerplay has been a mess too, Pettersson rarely gets looks as it is more schemed for Hughes and Miller & Boeser to be the finisher.

I think it's injury, coach scheme & confidence all wrapped into one mess for him. He scored a pt/game for his first 400 games in the NHL, it doesn't make any sense for him just to lose his abilities overnight.
