People really think JT Miller is untradeable?

He's been PPG for like 4-5 seasons. Hits. Fights. Plays the PP and PK. Blocks shots wins faceoffs.

But sure, no GM wants all that for $8 million
Teams would love that kind of production.
Teams do not want a locker room cancer.

What about Miller's play leads you to believe he's the one that doesn't give a shit out there? Cause EP sure looks that way most of the time.

Even if Miller is an obnoxious douche, which he probably is, I'd take the underpaid douche over the overpaid guy who can't be bothered to give a shit most of the time
Yeah I saw that you’re a fan of Miller, and you can really tell! While EP has one bad calendar year, I’d still go with the one with the most potential, waaaay younger, and who’s track record of destroying dressing rooms is shorter

The solution is so simple. You invite Miller to a party at X location, then do the same to Petey. Then when they get there, you lock em in a room and throw away the key until they can make nice. Standard sitcom problem solving. Is Alvin too dumb to see it?
I think Petey would end up dead

I don't think we really have the assets, the cap space etc, but if possible, I'd love Petterson on the wings. I've always wanted him.

I’m f***ing done with these two. Trade them both. Two of our highest paid players and can’t even get along or whatever is being reported.
Trade them both to the same team just for the shits and giggles. I think Philly with Torts would be perfect. Let's have our first murder in an NHL locker room.

EP for Danielson + Sandin-Pellikka + 1st + Copp + Husso (cap)
Giving up ASP hurts, but I'd at least consider this because we need the scoring help. If Stevie could crack that trade off without losing ASP, I'd do it.
Bonus points if he manages to throw in Gus, Holl, or Petry to get Hronek back lol

Elias Pettersen and Casey Mittelstadt?

Pettersen has 438 points in 439 career games.

Mittelstadt has 219 points in 391 career games.

Yeah, they're close. The Canucks should do this. Sure.

Progression isn’t linear and to suggest that the current players are completely reflective of history is disingenuousness to some extent as Mitts has gotten better over the last couple years. Again I agree that Petterson is the more valuable player and Colorado would need to add substantially, but the gap isn’t like comparing Tyson Jost to Connor McDavid. We’re likely looking at 2 tier difference.

In an absolute best case scenario, EP one day becomes as good as Miller is now. He's never been a $12m player, and has regressed since signing that contract. I don't know why anyone would even give up anything of value for him, let alone why the Canucks would keep him over Miller

Also keep in mind that can easily change and JT in a couple years won't be the same player at 33/34
It could change, but i highly doubt EP suddenly starts to give a shit again. So if they're both overpaid, might as well take the one who you get some positive value out of now, who also makes less AAV and is signed for a shorter amount of time

This is comical I mean if Fetisov and Kasatonov the greatest defensive pairing in the world in the 80's. Who didn't even speak could play together these two clowns should make up or at least put differences aside on the ice. For those that want to read up on the Russians here you go.

Except it's EP that looks like he's not the same player anymore. Only on pace for 67 points this year.

Yeah but in the 10 games without Miller, he put up 15 points (2G, 13A), a 123 point pace.

So hypothetically, any team acquiring him should expect more production and the Canucks would get more production from him if they traded Miller.

I’m sorry, you clearly don’t know shit about the Canucks.

JT Miller has had equally bad stretches of poor defensive performances, laziness, pouting at teammates, quitting on plays, and being benched for long stretches of the game. Pettersson is the better player and every single Canucks fan thinks this.

Whether you like Miller over Pettersson is your opinion, but the objective truth is that Pettersson is quite literally the better offensive and defensive player and it’s not even close. Even when Pettersson is producing like a 70 point guy right now and playing like an absolute turd, he’s still one of our best defensive forwards. And despite his struggles, he’s looked infinitely better than Miller this season.

Miller without Hughes on the ice is quite literally embarrassing to watch. And he’s one of the worst players without him.

How much of that is the Quinn Hughes effect though? Typically Miller is on the ice when Quinn is.

Petey's 2022/23 season was better than anything Miller has ever achieved in his career. It's hilarious you don't think a team wouldn't take a chance on a 26-year-old who has already posted 100 and 89-point seasons and is defensively responsible. You never would have expected JT to become the player he is today when he was 26.
