When?

Who?
Seems to be a consistent trend here. Sounds like they were hoping Petterson would rise to the demands of someone with that contract, but he didn't live up to his off ice expectations, but they are hopeful he is starting to turn around his off ice dedication and maturity though.

- ""I’d like to see him top three, one of the best-shape guys.”

In other words, last year Pettersson wasn’t one of the team’s fitness leaders heading into training camp.

It’s not the first time Tocchet has suggested Pettersson’s preparation still has room for growth. During the 2023-24 season, he said he thought Pettersson’s practice habits needed improving"

- Rick Tocchet - "He would rest in practice because he wanted to be fresh for the games. But he has to understand that practise is really important and you’ve got to push the pace. That’s how you deal with pressure."

- ""again, it comes back to expectations and preparation, how you prepare yourself. I don't believe that he was aware of just how hard it was going to be," Allvin said. “Just because you achieve one thing to get a long-term extension, life just gets harder."

- Allvin - "maybe see it was a little bit of relief after that. Maybe he took his foot off the gas a little bit."... "practice habits still need to get to another level consistently"

- ""He said he told Pettersson he would have to be more prepared, both mentally and physically, as a result.

“And he didn’t get to that level coming right out of his contract and into training camp but now he understands that,” Rutherford told me.""

Who has bad practice habits? Both have been good young players, better than frost and farabee certainly

Gotta give to get
Read the post I was replying to - If Philly got EP40. Posters were saying EP40 had bad practice habits. Damn keep up

"If Hughes isn't willing to be captain and struggle for a few more years, than he clearly isn't that interested in staying to begin with."

What does this mean then? If he's not willing to struggle, you know like they have for the last 6 years to win a cup, that he should should up waste his prime years and stay in Vancouver while they rebuild for his remaining years? The man is a Generational talent. Possibly and arguably the greatest pure talent barring Bure and the Twins, that the Canucks have ever had. The position is to show Quinn that being in Vancouver is not a waste of time, that they want to win. He loves the city, he likes playing here, but why in the hell would you want to make him upset and want him to leave because you blew up the team due to drama? Allvin and Rutherford need to get good players back, not futures. Quinn is the present and future of the Canucks. You can shoot everyone else out of a cannon, but you better be getting some artillery back that's good now, not 5 or 6 years from now.

I think Hughes will be better than the twins when it's all said and done. Not really much doubt in my mind.

What do Flyers have though that Rutherford would accept for Pettersson? Maybe it’s Miller the two clubs are discussing?
That would be a hilarious disaster. Offload farabee just to take on another cap dump

Seems Miller is a Torts type of player. If comments in the Farabee trade thread are accurate, and Torts has a strong voice in trades, then wouldn’t he want Miller?

Bad locker room guys are not Torts players.

See: Kevin Hayes, Ivan Provorov

100 point, mean, first line centre seems exactly what Torts would love to play 25 minutes a night.
Not at the expense of the young player morale.

See: TDA. We still don't have a PP1 QB ever since trading him.

I'm a big Torts guy, and I'm drawing a blank. When would Torts and Provorov even crossed paths?

Edit: holy God is my timeline messed up lol. I knew it couldn't have been in Columbus, didn't realize they overlapped a year in Philly.

I don't follow the Canucks that much but surely Elias Pettersson being traded would be a longshot? has his value decreased that much

Just for poops ang giggles as an Islanders fan I would do

Elias Pettersson for Dobson, Nelson(who could be traded to another team for the playoffs) and Engvall
