Rumor: Pettersson and JT Miller Part XVIII: We wont play nice in the team sandbox

At this point in time for Vancouver's best interest the person needing to be traded is: The entire back office, marketing personnel and owner as well.

Since the Kesler issue/drama this team has been unable to keep anything under wraps. The media seemingly knows more about the day to day on/off ice issues of the players thna the coaching staff and GM does. They are tanking the value of every possible asset they have and have done so for about a decade

Miller is the obvious candidate to go based on his age and the apparent issues with Horvat (who is having a quietly solid season with the NYI and was far better friends with EP and QH by accounts) and Miller has needed personal time to get over his issues while EP is pouting or sulking or whatever.

If Vancouver is serious they'll find the leaks getting to "insiders" and fire them on the spot, then tell Quinn Hughes that this is his team, ask him who he wants to trade, what the return will be because they are building around him and not the other way around.

The Canucks are a GD tire fire and will probably lose any two of Pettersson/Miller/Boeser/Demko this year, possibly one of the remaining the following year and a year later Hughes will say F*** this im going to NJ to play with my brothers ala Scott/Rob Neidermeyer in Anaheim.

So they better loop in their captain and trade one or both of Miller and Pettersson and get it right or in less than 2 years they'll have pulled a compressed Ottawa in which over a moderate period of time the Snes lost Hossa, Chara, Karlsson Stone and one or two other quality players.

But instead, it will be two years in which they lose a generational defenseman, one or two star centers and a top 6 winger as well as a #1 goalie (potentially only) over a 2-3 year period.

So they better figure it out and figure it out fast otherwise....lol

Buffalo is probably asking for EP and Quinn Hughes now. Biggest trade of the century. Power Cozens Byram Krebs Ostlund Rosen 2025 and 2026 first.

What a blessing this all is truly.

With one wild season the Canucks can now slice up every bad longterm contract they have given out and avoid the two they were about to give as well.

- Pettersson can be traded before his NMC kicks in, even with a handshake deal to not do so.

-Miller can be traded with a NMC intact, before he gets another year older.

-Boeser can be dealt before commiting a bad deal longterm for a player already slow and soft.

-Demko can be moved off of before he breaks down even more and were forced to offer him a longterm deal too.

We can start over even if we take a bath on the value of some of the above.

Problem with all that is if all those things happen. Quinn leaves too. To keep Quinn, the Canucks need to get good value back that makes them competitive now. And its easier said than done to replace a #1 goalie, 2 top line Centres, and a top 6 winger.

“You hated him for 364 days a year. And on the 365th day, you collected your Stanley Cup rings” is a quote about Canadian ice hockey coach Scotty Bowman. Former Montreal winger Steve Shutt

Winning solves

3 in a row. 40 playing better. 9 showing more committed efforts and Demko finally looking like his old self. The break is coming.

The line in the sand has been drawn. It's on the 2 highest paid forwards and Quinn Hughes now to decide

Hughes has carried this team to a 3 game winning streak. The difference with him on vs off the ice is astounding. Never seen anything like it.

Miller and Petey have gotten the odd point here and there, but in no way have they done anything to take over a game or will the team to a victory.

I dont see the team being much worse without either of these guys on it. Hughes is the only reason this team is in a wildcard spot this season.

Also the healthiest the team has been all season. If they can go on a little run this likely goes away.

You can't base your entire strategy around one player at the detriment of a long term path to being a consistent contender. If Hughes isn't willing to be captain and struggle for a few more years, than he clearly isn't that interested in staying to begin with.

I think that’s the biggest difference between this year and last year and Rutherford even mentioned it himself. Winning solves a lot of issues.

That said, something must’ve happened after JT’s benching and prior to his LOA that management feels there’s likely no coming back from.

Its too much to hope for.

After all of this drama, and with this flukey 3-game winning streak, itll be full steam ahead for the cup soon.

Im not worried about Quinn Hughes in July 2028.

In worried about keeping him now. And building an actual contender.

There's over 10 roster spots already in need of an upgrade on the current roster.

The best two forwards are feuding and one is likely traded for a song here anyday now.

Boeser is a UFA seeking 7+ probably.

Demko is struggling badly and 1 year from UFA.

I do not care if on paper we get worse and Quinn gets unhappy. We have an opportunity to shed alot of longterm commitments only this silly season would afford. We need to be smart. Cant just br Miller needs to be thr whole lot, imo.

Aquire a warchest of ammo so WE are the team thats in on Miller's and Pettersson's and Boeser's when they become available.

Rangers out of the wild card spot + Devils being able to hold with injuries to their forward core since they're the two top teams for Miller apparently, Vancouver is probably gonna have to cut their losses with Miller if they want a trade ASAP. There's virtually no bargaining power than Allvin has now.

Wouldn't be shocked if Jersey wants Boeser for what it's worth.

They aren’t playing that well though.

Nobody is cutting their losses.....yet

JR is just saying that if they cant get along anymore and they have to make a move it's on the players not them.
It's also making it apparent that if you want one of them than you better put your best offer on the table for when it happens.
And for 9 and 40 that they better get their asses in gear and stop letting it effect themselves on ice and the team

Logically they will let things settle over the break. Come back with a fresh start. See if they can win if it's tenable if they are playing up to their contracts and being good professionals.

Will make it much easier to keep the room from going ballistic if Miller is moved as he has more friends amongst the core if the line has been drawn and someone can't play ball from a professional standpoint.

So far both have let it effect them on ice and have stunk compared to the past. Neither one has earned an immunity idol and in the case of Pettersson who says he wants to stay. You could easily be going to a worse situation with another Miller type in another room who could be up your ass if your prioritizing games scooters vacations and social media vs making gains in the gym.

If not this summer or at the deadline if someone actually makes a good offer there will be change. It's possible then that Miller could be dumped for dimes on dollars without any good offers to just provide cap space and a healthy work environment for next season.
Pettersson will require good offers. The whole house has been designed with him being a mentor for the young Swedes for that to change will require heavy surgery and a Necas type player coming back and maybe more.

Keep dreaming of getting them for peanuts. This bad apple Miller narrative has gone way too far he just cant stand the way Pettersson has taken the bag and then folded and is riding his ass. Most the players love JT.
40 needs to stop being Patrick Laine grow the fuxx up and get working and it will go away. He's getting better and has all the talent in the world. Having 32 pts in 44 games for him is embarrassing. And sure he has/had knee tendinitis but either take time off and make a stand to get healthy or just get going and fight through it. If it's really that bad he should 100% not be going to 4 Nations.....if he does no more excuses
