Sure, you could argue that MacKinnon helps boost his numbers, and it’s probably true to a certain extent, but he’s also shown that he can perform well when MacKinnon is out.
Rantanen’s production has been incredibly consistent and elite. He’s also the better goal scorer.
Pettersson has/had an argument when he was a 100 point, two way center. But he hasn’t been that in over a year, whereas Rantanen is currently #3 in NHL scoring.
