Well, another one that got away due to shitty coaching. I don’t know if pinning is something he learned in Europe but it sure does not work on this team. Ample opportunities this season to get pucks out but instead try to pin it which then leads to goals. PP at its finest has now dropped to 19th in the league and holding on by a slim point 2 not to finish worst. Leadership has to be better all around, penalties for sticking up for good hits costing us, diving cost us, being on for 6 of the last 8 goals against needs to be fixed and finally cutting ties and accepting loses with coaching.

They've lost a lot of games because of this style. They have a lead in the 3rd and instead of trying to continue attempting to score, they just shut it down. Grind on the boards and ice the puck constantly. Seems like 9 out of 10 times it comes back to bite them and it's so frustrating to watch. It must be frustrating for the players to have to essentially give up if they have a lead in the 3rd.

Playing not to lose over and over again. Just like refusing to pull the goalie early. He's "old school" in so many ways and some still work but man he feels like a relic from another era sometimes.

Realistically the Petes should be adding Novotny, top 4 pick in the ohl draft and a top 10 pick in the import draft. Should be 3 high impact players plus I would expect at least 2 different OA’s as well
Plus maybe we get some extra luck and Alex Hage finds himself in Peterborough too...

I am not usually a critic but Barrie really came on in the 3rd period and the puck was in the Petes end 90% of the time and the only thing that was keeping the Petes in the game was Rye. My beef is the Petes centers I swear lost 99% of the faceoffs in their own end, Bryant was brutal. Is there no one else that can take a faceoff, how about Melee. One more comment Stonehouse is a real bonus to this team but Iam afraid that we will be watching the playoffs from the sidelines.
I was referring to the two penalties in quick succession in the second but yeah, the team fell apart in the third, not gonna bother going through and figuring out the faceoff stats for just the third but Melee was the only one that was good last night. Usually, McCallum is good but was terrible last night.
Your team deserved a bettter fate last night

Losing by one when half the goals are on the PP and your goalie is running a 909 save percentage isn't a great look. Barrie did have them in their end for most of the third but at this level, you would think they should be able to at least clear the zone and get line changes without forcing a whistle or just dumping it down for a possible icing, they just don't ever seem to want to. Playing the pin and kill time game only works when you're able to reliably get ahead and are defensively sound. Neither of those things is a strong point of the team this season.

Hosting the prospects game should hopefully be a good draw point for Novotny, Hage and possibly the other import if they're not already signed. I'd like to be hopeful that the league will allow the franchise the first overall pick for the first time but at this point, they may as well take it as a point of pride being the longest continuous franchise in the league and never having had first pick. Only had a second pick once as well. The OA situation is IMO going to be the biggest thing to figure out for next season.

Last night wasn't a pull goalie game, but they do generally wait too long. Play an extremely defence oriented game, this season has hopefully taught them that they need to work some offence into the game too though.

Thursday night they were down one and Brampton took a penalty with 2:32 left in the third. Absolute textbook time to take him out. Didn't happen til there was close to one minute left.

Playing not to lose.

I have made my thoughts known on not pulling the goalie early because I swear with the goalie pulled the puck ends up in the Petes net a huge percentage of the time.

Ok. But math says you're wrong and it's better to pull the goalie earlier. Of course there's a chance you'll give up an empty net goal but there's a greater chance you'll score as well, especially in a 6 on 4 situation like Thursday would have been.

Hopefully Gowan is okay, it looked like a shoulder injury. It was definitely a checking from behind penalty to Wakely but there was an even dirtier hit by Tiller on Parish in the first period that went uncalled . A full on the numbers hit from behind. Luckily Parish was okay but he seems to get his share of cheap shots.

Losing to Barrie that way sucked but in defence of the coaching, that game was a testament to how competitive the Petes are as a last place team.

Math may say that i am wrong but the reality is I have sat in the stands or watched the game on TV so many times that when the Petes have pulled the goalie the puck ends up in our net. It depends on the talent of the team that the coach has. We are not the London Knights so decisions have to be made accordingly and not necessarily do things that coaches of teams with more talent do. A fact, the Petes Goals For is 147,London, 258,Brantford 237. We just don't have 6 sharpshooters in our lineup that we can tap on the shoulder and say go get em. I don't agree with everything that Wilson does, I was upset about how the third period was handled in the game against Barrie on Saturday when we were hemmed in our end for the entire 3rd period and lost almost all the faceoffs but the same guys continued to take the faceoofs, why not try Number 5 a big defenceman who might have been told to at least tie up the opposing centreman. The faceoff losses cost the Petes the game. As for the criticism of Wilson's defensive style this team can't play run and gun with better teams in the league and the standings show that there are 19 better teams. Let's remember Wilson was the coach of a championship team 2 years ago. That's it for me on this topic.

@User13452 referenced the potential for another top 10 import selection and this begs the question to me if Rio Kaiser will be brought back next season. Ideally the Petes select another highly touted young forward (similar to Novotny) and maybe you play the waiting game for a season again but it would be nice to have another offensive weapon join this team for the beginning of next season.

The Petes also currently have their 1st round selection as well as two 2nd round picks and two 3rd round picks in the upcoming priority selection. I think there is a chance that both a 2nd and 3rd are flipped into the future leaving the Petes with 1 pick in each of the first three rounds. All this to say, there is a real chance to add some legit talent and offensive weapons in this upcoming draft with the quantity and quality of picks they have. We need to hit big with these picks. Its been a bit since we have comfortably picked in the first three rounds and there is always some gamechangers available in this range when you look back at past drafts

I think Rio brings some size and a bit of muscle to the blueline for sure but I think it's mostly a stop-gap. The rest of the defence should continue to grow and fill in the areas Kaiser was used to fill.

First time since 2018 that have had picks in all three of the first rounds. They've had success the last few times with second-round picks so hopefully that will continue.

It’s looking like as of now that import pick will be anywhere from 2-8 depending how teams in other leagues do. Whoever they pick needs to be coming to play next year and should have an immediate impact as either a top 6 forward or top 4 dman. I could see them selecting a defenceman

Assuming Novotný is signed here is presumably where things stand at this current moment with 4 OAs. At first glance, this group needs an infusion of offensive skill no doubt:

Novotný - Fitzgerald - McCallum
Taylor - Young - Pagé*
Faulkner* - OHL 1st - Addy
Partridge - Levac - Parish

Ula - Cameron
Strohack - Ladds
Gowan - Kaiser
Marentette- Jenken*

Bowen*
Rye
Johnston
Lee-Stack
