Peterborough Petes 2024 25 Season Thread Part Ii

Agreed. That team is not good. Page and Jenken wouldn’t make my team next season.
Doubtful they keep Jenken. There’s also a 2027 Windsor 5th that is conditional I’m assuming on him playing a OA year here. So you might as well get something back outta that awful trade

1. McGregor
2. Warren

Faulkner - Best defensive player on team +4 and started to show offensive skill in last half with more ice, lots of upside if given opportunity
Jenken - Big body but not sure he can stay healthy to help
Page - Gritty, needs to engage more
Bowen - Trade for D or picks

Taylor McCallum Fitzgerald (My Apologies on Fitzgerald)
McGregor Young Faulkner
Page. Partridge Parrish
Doxtator Levac Addy or Trade

Gowan Cameron
Strohack Jenken
Ula Ladds

Rye
Johnston
Keep in mind there will be 2 (or 3) imports added to the lineup.

In an article Friday in the Examiner Oke talks about the need to upgrade the offense heading into next season.

It mentions that Wilson and O'Connor have gone to Europe to do some scouting for the Import draft in July (the Petes have the 2nd overall pick). They will meet with Adam Novotny, his agent and his family while they are there.

I would like to see something like this for next season

Novotny OA Fitzgerald
Taylor mcallum import
Faulkner young murata
Page partridge addy

Gowan Cameron
Ula ladds
Strohack rookie

Hopefully someone in camp can make it interesting and some bodies get moved maybe hage comes up with novotny being here Save some OA room to see what teams do get someone cheap or free at start of season or wait till deadline for a cheap add

Goaltending looks fine whoever they decide to go with

I like that. I would swap Levac for Patridge though. And Ula beat out Gowan this year. We will see after the offseason.

They won’t take Murata. Perimeter player who plays skilled but doesn’t finish checks. Wilson simply would never play him.

It’ll be one of McGregor, Wycisk or Delisle. I’ll be shocked if it isn’t. Those three players offer skill but also two other things that are an absolute must for Rob Wilson… compete level + two way play

Page isn’t gonna be a OA playing 4th line. Addy should be moved him playing 4th line would just lead to a trade request anyways

In another Examiner article, Rob Wilson is pretty straightforward about where the Petes are at right now and what the expectation is going forward.

Some of the potential returning players have been put on notice, Wilson said, that they’ll be fighting for their jobs at training camp.
There are no promises to anybody, and we told everybody that. We’ve gone through the most difficult time of this process and now there are no promises to anybody. They had better be ready to come back and earn it and who knows where the summer will take us,” he said.
Now it’s about building a quality team for the next two to three years.”
discussing the young guys in the lineup and how they may have been a disappointment......

Without a better supporting cast around them, Wilson said it’s premature to make judgments.
For all our young guys, there is still time for guys to prove they can be really, really good players in this league,” he said.

One of Wilson's standard lines about a player's commitment to the team is: "You are either IN or you are IN THE WAY".
He also discussed the goal for next year.......

Our goal is definitely to make the playoffs and try to be .500 or better and try to make some noise in the playoffs. What’s going to be interesting for us as a coaching and management group is to see who is going to be able to handle those demands because the demands are going to be high,” he said.
If that’s not in guys’ DNA or makeup, then they’ll find they won’t be a part of the process going forward.”

Amen to that!
They could sell tickets to camp next year......it should be very competitive.

Addy didn’t play the last month due to a back injury jury otherwise he would’ve been in the lineup. He was just starting to turn it on. I highly doubt he’s in OJ
Was he tho? Outside of about a 3 game stretch starting in Sudbury he was one of the worst forwards on the ice most nights. There’s definitely no guarantee he even makes the team next year

What do you mean “beat out” ? Both players are huge pieces to the teams future. Ula will play heavy minutes next season but that doesn’t mean Gowan won’t play every night either.
Sorry i'll clarify.
By beat out I mean they were sort of splitting time for a while, seeing which rookie was going to take the reigns. Ula gained a confidence and became one of our best defenders. It was great to see. I really like Gowan's game as well though and he will definitely be an important piece for us too. I see Ula on the top line next year with Cameron personally. Gowan is one of our best passers on the back end. Helped us get out of our own end often.

Totally agree. Great first pass… and that teddy bear toss goal :eek3:
