Any chance they move Matejicek or is he too tied to Novotny? My IceDogs could use the D help and have a spot open 😂
Mike Oke has said they are not planning on trading any of their veteran players however he may consider and any offer for Martin Matejicek If they could get a good 2006 or 2007 born player in return to add to their young core of young players. I doubt think he will be traded for a couple of mid round draft picks.

So you’d rather keep him for 30 games than get a couple picks? That wouldn’t be good asset management. petes also have extra d now so a trade would make sense

At the game today and thought Taylor had a nice game against his old team. Have to give a shout out to Kaiser for not destroying Blonda who made the foolish mistake of dropping the mitts with a player that size who could of really hurt him. Did not look like he really wanted to engage with a little guy like that but simply defended himself without tearing him apart.

The Petes goal in the second half of the season is to win as many games as possible and it is the important to have Martin Matejicek as a mentor for our young defenceman however if they could get a younger player in return it may be worthwhile trading him.

Lol said this before but matijicek isn’t gonna be the difference in them winning or losing.

Cheynowski for Matejicek? Matejicek is probably a better player but Cheynowski is non important and an 06. Just spit balling but could be win-win.

If they could get a player back for him that would be a huge win imo

Probably 8-9 players on team won’t b back next year
3 for sure and then probably all potential OA’s next year need to be upgraded

If there is a
8-9? What’s gonna happen? lol
I thought that at first but if you actually go down the list it’s possible. All 3 OA this year plus Matijcek and possibly Kaiser. Bowen is likely gone so there’s 6 and then there’s no way they go with page Faulkner and jenken as the OA’s so there’s 9 it’s definitely possible

Nice win in Sudbury yesterday. To be frank, where did that come from? At the end of a long northern road trip, some bad losses to NB and SSM and after 4 games in 6 days, they could do nothing wrong vs a good Sudbury team.

Addy gets two good snipes and Bowen plays solid in net. I think getting a rare two goal lead gave the team some confidence. The Petes' usual defensive strategy (collapse to red line and let the other team come at them) works well with a lead - scoring helps of course.

I like Kaiser so far, not only massive physical presence but has an edge to his game.

Many games lately McCallum goes down in a heap after a hit or gets a stick in face and stays down - only to get up and look perfectly fine - what's up with that? Unless I'm missing something , not a good look.

Well you know what when you break it down like that, then those numbers are not far off at all. If we are not selling some pieces we need to be careful not to just keep spending some picks on rental/OA players. Yes you have to pay to get quality but we need to make sure that we keep as many assets as possible for when we have a competitive team. While also remaining consistent in our approach and not blowing everything on one age group in particular.

Why is Matejicek definitely gone after this year? Can imports not be OA's?
They can but it’s not the best use of roster spots. Only elite imports usually get the opportunity to play an OA season.

Petes will likely (hopefully) add Novotny in the offseason and make another selection at the top of the draft. Plus, they’re taking a look at Rio Kaiser for the last 30 or so games currently. Wouldn’t make sense to keep Matejicek IMO.

Add Novotny and draft another superstar with what should be a back to back top 10 selections in the Import Draft. And a tough decision at that point may have to be made on Kaiser...

Surprised the petes wouldn’t have done that draft pick deal north bay and Saginaw did. Move a second this year for one in 2028 and a 4th round pick

Mike Oke traditionally makes trades for draft picks for draft picks in the trading period just before the draft. I think he might trade one of the two 2nds the Petes have for a 2nd next year and a 4th or a 5th in future drafts.

Was just saying that a deal like this would be good for the IceDogs to do on the buying side since they don’t have a 2nd in 2025…

Unless they believe a Rye/Johnston tandem won’t work next year then Bowen shouldn’t be here after Friday if there’s any interest in him he should be dealt
I could see Erie as a team interested. Would be a big upgraded BUG for them and he could be their starter next year when erliden leaves. Makes the most sense for me.

potentially Kingston as our starter? although I believe they’re looking at Schenkel.

Rangers not selling. Looking to add on the cheap to go deep. Would a couple mid round picks be enough for Bowen to back up Parsons?

A little uncomfortable going with the 07 Schaubel as the back up.

I don’t think the Petes are likely going to trade Zach Bowen. I expect they will go with him and Easton Rye as their two goaltenders for the remainder of the season. Bowen does not want to be a back-up goaltender and so he is better to remain in Peterborough were he will get more starts in goal and the Petes is looking to win as many games as possible. I could be wrong and he will be traded tomorrow but I doubt it happens.
