do you think I just make stuff up for fun? I’ve been told he won’t play for the Petes next season. It’s very likely Chicago or for a prep school before making the jump to Chicago the following season.
thats 100 percent the most likely outcome. hes a nice player, but the hype is too much, hes not his brother.

Looking ahead to the CHL Import draft......now less than 6 weeks away (July 3rd).

Martin Matějíček......will be back as a solid veteran presence on the d-core as a 2005 born, 6'2" 207lbs LH dman

There is a shadow looming however, in the form of:
Rio Kaiser......the 6'7" 207lbs LH dman the Petes drafted in last CHL draft (31st overall).

  • German born, he was drafted from the Red Bull Hockey program in Austria (same program they chose Purdeller from in 2022).
  • He returned to Germany this past season playing in the German U20 league.
  • He is signed to play in the DEL (top league in Germany) this coming season as he has signed with Eisbären Berlin.
With him being signed to play in Germany, the Petes likely release him and with the 9th overall pick Oke should be able to get an impact 07, especially with the Russians/Belarussians back in the pool.

*Fun fact........Liam Kirk just signed to play on the same team as Rio Kaiser in the DEL next season.

Good luck to Michael Simpson and Owen Beck at the Memorial Cup......hopefully one of them can finish the job that the Petes couldn't last year.

I know he’s an 06 instead of an 07… but I would be okay with drafting this big lad. Miroslav Satan Jr!

Father played in the NHL for a while. Solid player there too.

He would be a good fit for the Petes. He would likely play in the top six.

I love Jr's game and I know how Coach Wilson loves big centers.
My only concern is whether he will be around when the Petes are competitive.

If the Petes get an 07, he could be with the team for 3 seasons and be 19 when Taylor, Cameron, Addy, Young, Ladds, Cadorin and Masen Johnston are all 19.

I do like an 07 teammate of Satan's from the Slovakian U18 team......

Andreas Straka Andreas Straka - Stats, Contract, Salary & More

Unfortunately, Straka is not related to Martin and is a "tiny" 6' 1" center compared to the 6' 7" Satan.

Having said all that, Oke could draft an 06 like Satan and then deal him to a contender for their 07 import, but deals like that are few and far between.

I'm just not sure that Oke wants to do a deal with the devil :naughty:

Oke has taken 3 players from the Red Bull Academy since Wilson has been here and Wilson and O'Connor went to the Red Bull Academy last month.

Were they looking at someone?

Thanks for that info @Petes1
Here are some possibilities that would make sense:

Leon Kolarik 07 LH forward…..best option IMO
He spent most of his year in the U20 league scoring more than a PPG while these other guys played mostly U18
Leon Kolarik - Stats, Contract, Salary & More

Karl Pohle 07 LH forward
Karl Pohle - Stats, Contract, Salary & More

Konstantin Hutzinger 07 LH forward
Konstantin Hutzinger - Stats, Contract, Salary & More

Lukas Greil 08 RH forward who should be on their radar next year if he grows…he was pretty dominant in the U18 league as an underager this year
Lukas Greil - Stats, Contract, Salary & More

Is Kolarik big enough for Rob Wilson? Lol

Did a deeper dive on the Red Bull Academy.
You can't deny the Petes' interest in their players....
Rio Kaiser 2023
Tommy Purdeller 2022
Erik Cermak 2018

and the fact that Wilson/O'Connor went to visit there recently is a pretty strong indicator that they will go there again in this year's draft.

Here are a couple more forwards.....

Nikita Kressler 07 RH forward 5'11" 168lbs........spent most of his time with the U20 team
Nikita Kessler - Stats, Contract, Salary & More

Quirin Schlager 08 LW/C who spent some time with RB Academy this year.....looks like he could be a good one to consider next year
Quirin Schlager - Stats, Contract, Salary & More

It's assumed that Oke will pick a forward in the Import draft, but what if he decides to go with a Dman instead?

Josef Prast 07 LH Dman 6'2" 194lbs
He played on Italy's U20 team with Tommy Purdeller at the Div. 1B WJC
Josef Prast - Stats, Contract, Salary & More

Moritz Warnecke 07 LH Dman 6'0" 168lbs
Moritz Warnecke - Stats, Contract, Salary & More

Owen Beck was just named the Memorial Cup. I am glad that Saginaw won the Memorial Cup and London didn’t.

Alex Hage is in attendance at Chicago Steel camp (as expected). Dylan Lee-Stack (free agent goalie from New York) who attended Petes camp… is also at Steel camp.

I really liked Lee Stack at rookie camp and think he could challenge Masen Johnston for the backup spot next year

Offseason Petes trivia, I'm bored edition: Name this player, no googling.

Undrafted into the OHL, played 244 games in the league, all with the Petes. 32 points in his rookie season was named Petes co-rookie of the year. In his second season he came into his own in the playoffs, leading the team in postseason assists. In his final season he led the team with 43 goals. Middle 10s era.

Once it's correctly guessed, pose a new trivia/name that player question if you please.
