Wow. Can't believe we won vs North Bay in North Bay. The first period was so impressive a period for the Petes that they deserved the outcome.

The next step is to learn how to shut down the opposing team with a 3 goal lead LOL.

Simpson won this one for us especially the blocker save off of MacDonald with a minute left.

Practice makes perfect!
I know that the Petes were successful holding on with a 3 goal lead to win tonight, but I think it would be a good idea to practice that again in the next game . That's the only way they will get better at that.

I was happier when the Petes pressured with one forechecker deeper in the North Bay zone part way through the 3rd period rather than having all forwards between centre and the Petes' blue line just waiting for the Battalion to come at them. At least with one forechecker he can slow the attack down coming out of the North Bay end and direct it to a specific side that is better protected by his teammates behind him.
The penalty by Beck in the 3rd happened because he was caught flat-footed, waiting in neutral ice as Nelson came at him with speed.

They have already earned the split so the Petes are playing with house money. However, I am a little concerned about Hayes. He took an awkward hit along the boards in neutral ice with about 18:30 left in the 3rd period and was holding his left knee as he made his way to the bench and never returned.
Hopefully he'll be good to go Sunday.

Mike Davies of The Examiner said that Hayes was hurt blocking a shot with 8 minutes left in the 3rd period of game 1. I've gone back to the replay a few times (once after someone here pointed it out that Hayes left early on the third period) so I don't know where Davies is getting that info. I don't think Hayes played after the 18 minute mark of the period after taking a hit along the boards, and went to the bench holding his knee.

In the after game interview -Rob Wilson was saying that Hayes could have played but they were resting him as precaution and he should be good for Tuesday.

I would think it's a bit of both.
