When so many clearly talented players are playing below their talent level AT THE SAME TIME it is usually the coach.

BRING in Knobluach as interim coach and see if he can turn this thing around.

This does two big things:

1. If he turns it around even a little it shows the biggest issue may have been a milquetoast coach

2. It also gives you half a season to see if Knoblauch is a legit NHL level coach before commiting to him
Erm I think that ship has sailed

You want to bring in the Oilers coach? What am I missing?

Firing him now will only allow the "core" to get away with axing their 3rd coach. f***-That-Shit.

Playoffs aren't happening with or with out a new coach. They were a fleeting pipe dream when they went on their little run but at the very least they're going to be 6 out after tonight and as many as 7 with 31 to go. They aren't making up that ground. They literally couldn't afford another extended losing streak and thats exactly what they're in the middle of right now. Any change made with the mindset of saving the season is dumb at this point. Let this group die. Even staying close will ensure that Wolfshit 55 continues to hang around and he'll ensure that they miss by himself.

Lavi shouldn't be back next year, but cut

Please replace him with someone under 50 who isn't going to buy into antiquated mantras and an "URRRNNN IT" mentality. David Carle would be wonderful but I doubt he would come here.
You aren't going to chop half the squad here. Drury has clearly committed to the win now roster by bringing in a 31 yo Miller and trading away the younger Chytil and a 1st rd pick.

When practically everyone of your star players are underperforming a big piece of the blame has to go the head coach.

Bring in an interim coach and see how he does. If it doesn't work bring in another coach in the offseason.

I dunno but this is a Presidents trophy team just 1 year ago. All the players didnt just suddenly turn to mush... they aint all 35-37 year old players about to fall off a cliff.

Bring in another coach NOW.

Run It Back Lav should've been done at the end of December, along with the defensive coach, and a few of our vets.
Is there any one out there that is actually available that we could convince to come on board mid season?

Joel Quenneville. We all know he is an absolutely legit high level NHL Head coach looking to move on from the past. Also could light a fire under this team.

Only guy I could think of but coaching change or not I'm leaning towards making Bread, Zibs, CK, Fox, Lindy and Kam available if the trade returns are legit.

Retool around JT, Laffy, Will, Vince, Schneider, Shesty, with cap room to get some replacements fast.

I dunno considering most these players kicked butt last year and now suddenly suck Im going with a coaching change first as the likely simpler move to get guys back to their norms.

How bout Quenneville. Desperate for work and is a proven high level NHLcoach with a much better resume than Lavy ever had.

I know people won't like this but I don't need my coach to be a choir boy. Keenan was a known POS. And it's not like Q was the abuser. If we can win with Q, I'd take him.

Coach is never an excuse to play soft and not hustle nevermind for half a season. Are they giving 50% of their paychecks back?

Speaking of Knoblauch, wouldn't surprise me if desperate Drury fires Laviolette and hires Quenneville with the hopes that we make an Oilers-type run this year. After all, his job is (or should be) on the line.

New coach might get a jump start but this isnt a coaching issue imo. Several players just are too soft to play together. You can have 1-2 but if 6 are back next season the results will be more soft play.

Too soft doesnt get you the Presidents trophy and a couple deep playoff runs the last few years.

Now you add Miller for additional toughness. Get a real coach in here. Quenn would be significantly better than GG or Lavy.

One one hand I think Laviolette doesn't do shit that fixes the issues with this team but on the other the same issues have persisted through 3 coaches so like...what the hell

The players refuse to learn how to do basic defense or play offense in a way that is sustainable and do the same thing over and over and over and make excuses for why it doesn't work.

I think you'd need a coach that will not put up with any bullshit and lay out clear expectations and bench players who don't follow through and that includes the top players on the team. Laviolette's problem this year (IMO) is that he's just made excuse after excuse for the players who are playing badly and encouraged them to keep playing bad unsustainable hockey.
