Had he done a better job admitting he bet on baseball, rather than releasing his biography with the self pitying title My Prison Without Bars during Hall of Fame induction week I think he would have got in.
I'm not so sure about that, but he definitely never helped his case.

He was given a few opportunities to come clean but he's not only an arrogant prick, he's ignorant. Let Rose in, may as well put in Joe Jackson. But Baseball is hilarious. There are several roid heads in there including Big Sloppy WHO ACTUALLY TESTED POSITIVE. But no Clemens, Bonds, Sosa, ARod. It's a joke while clowns like Sludge Rodriguez, Mike Piazza and Jeff Bagwell are in.

The Joe Jackson thing is so funny to me because baseball sentimentalists ignore Buck Weaver out of that scandal who was arguably done an injustice.

Yeah, but he wasn't a poor illiterate kid who couldn't afford shoes. Probably a trust fund baby - after all, Eddie Collins, a college boy, sang his praises.
