Confirmed with Link: Perunovich traded for 2026 conditional 5th to Islanders

What if type of draft games can be annoying, but just looking at guys drafted right after him, you had guys like Feheravary and Durzi, Marchenko too, but I'll stay at same position. Durzi was a similar type if we were looking for a more offensive dman. Injuries didn't help him, but Durzi would be nice to have on this team.

We'll always have the time we were randomly paired together at Ruth Park when you showed up early for a prospect camp.

God speed.

Was hoping he'd be a decently valued add-on a bigger trade, or that we could trade him for a 3rd or 4th just to draft 1 more goalie than we would have, but oh well. Hope he carves out a decent career. His start in the AHL, although years ago, was very impressive.

Didn’t they just sign DeAngelo? Hope he gets some opportunity. I think he’s a useful player.

My post from another thread:

I'm curious about the condition on the pick, but I'm sure it won't impact my thoughts on the move.

His time to make an impact here had passed. He's been the odd man out through 3 coaches on a blueline that has never been 'too good to crack.' I'd love to see an alternate timeline where the shoulder injuries didn't completely derail him (and IMO ruin his ability to shoot the puck at a consistent NHL velocity), but that simply isn't the reality we live in.

He clearly wasn't in Monty's plans for the blue line, so I'm content getting a low-value pick to give him a chance to earn a spot somewhere else.

Worth noting that the other 3 of the 5 D men picked after him were Jonny Tychonick (0 NHL games played), Adam Ginning (10 NHL games played), and Calen Addison (150 NHL games played and currently in the AHL a year after returning a 5th round pick via trade).

All told of the 'next' 5 D picks, that's 2 guys that would have been a better outcome than Perunovich, 2 that would have been worse, and 1 that is almost identical. Given how much injuries plagued him post-selection, I can't be too mad about that.

Yeah, that's why I hate those games, it's easy to cherry pick the better options, and ignore the worse options. His progression was certainly positive in college and AHL. Who knows if he could've made it if he stayed healthy.

Not an NHL player, but probably will go on to be a perennial AHL all-star or have a nice career in Europe. The most valuable piece in this trade is the roster spot we open up.

Lots of people (mostly elsewhere) seem mad that he was “never given a chance,” but he was a golden boy hand-picked by Keith Tkachuk himself, and was given multiple, multiple opportunities to assert himself. He just never could.

I don't think Scotty is a big loss but it is interesting that soon after he seemed like he might be figuring the league out, he got stapled to the press box and never got out of it. There was a short stint earlier this year when he actually looked decent, but he never got a chance to run the PP. I guess now that Tucker has proven his usefulness that meant the end of Perunovich in STL.

Perunovich was turning into another highly-sheltered analytics darling like Calle Rosen. I won't miss him.

He's Tony DeAngelo lite, minus the bullshit.

Johannesson has played much better defensively and has been solid on the PP. I think that made him expendable along with Tuckers improved play.
I feel like every time I dig into a Thunderbirds box score, Johanesson is on there somewhere. Can he defend?

He’s good. There is a reason he is playing with Loof. He does the heavy lifting for him, but he is good at skating puck out of trouble and making a good first pass. He had to learn that this year he was better throwing a pass at their chest then their stick. Much more talented now…..

It was mentioned on the 101.1 pregame show by Lou Korac that the condition is that Perunovich has to play in 20 games this season for us to get the pick.

Did Perunovich request a trade? I think he must have been faced with a demotion to the AHL and this was a favor for him…..maybe? The Blues pretty much give him away, but it’s better than ending up on a waiver claim.
