I would not mind paying Perry 9 mil. I honestly think that is market value for him and it will be a pretty average contract by the end of the 8 years assuming the cap keeps rising.

People are still stuck on the times when the cap was 2/3 of what it is now.

5.25 mil is a crazy steal and we have had him on that for 5 years. Obviously I would rather have him at 7 but people need to get real. The cap is going down next year that it will start going up again.

Dude we can't afford 9 mill for Perry. We still have to sign Getz as well as Ryan in a few seasons. We have one of the lowest caps in the league and our owners probably like it that way. Not that it makes sense nor do I agree with it, but were a low budget team! In a very small market. We aren't the Lakers bro

I would pay both Perry and Getzlaf 8 million without hesitaiton. They will look like bargain contracts in 2 years. 9 million would make me uncomfortable, especially for a long term.

I wish I would hear for from the ducks... like its getting close or they are trying to work [x] out.

It's not that I don't want it being signed 9 mill per. Even if its long term I would do it if I were the owners. But within recent years and seeing our cap we can't keep this team competitive with the payroll were given each year by the Samueli's. If perry gets 9 mill Getz will want it to? And guess what Ryan will want?

Likely scenario if we do this? We have 20-24 mill locked up for 3 players on our roster. That's insane for our budget we get to use from the owners.

But we can afford 8 mil? 1 mil makes that much of a difference? wow

It might be a dirty move, but I would even agree to signing Perry to a max year/salary contract if it meant keeping Getzlaf too.

If we can't stay competitive with that much salary tied in 1-3 player(s), then move him at the 2014 draft.

Letting him walk away for nothing OR getting crap in return because he's a UFA seems like a bad way to go.

That's 24 mill signed to 3 players and your gonna make a team after that with under 30 mil? Our cap is at 52 lmao. You better start calling up our rookies sheesh.

Is it fair to say Perry's contract will decide Bobby Ryan's future?
if he re-signs, Ryan probably goes before he's a UFA.
If he walks, we certainly have to sign Ryan down the road right? unless Palmieri and Etem both explode as stars.

Do you remember last contract negotiation? Yah lets not go there again. Rediculous even though I believe we got the best in the draft with Etem. Hard supporter LB native fan here. I just don't wanna go there with Bobby if we deal with more bs contract negotiations. Top line minutes in Norfolk let Etem prosper before we bring him up again. Let him have his top line minutes and give a solid effort unlike Niño before NHL bound, NO offense to any criticism on this post. Just let Etem marinade on first line in Norfolk we have something special here boys.

Goin to the game tomorrow. I want a fan suprise. I want to do national anthem, introductions, then i want a special presentation at the faceoff circle, where getz and perry skate up and sign 6 year deals right before the game.

Thatd make my month.

I think Ryan will be gone unless he gets some sort of NTC since he's always in trade rumors

Bring back Perry and Getzlaf...Trade Bobby. Palmieri and Etem most likely aren't going to be as good as Bobby, but they're much cheaper, and if we re-sign the Twins, we're going to need cheap players.

Do you think Getzlaf and Perry will get identical contracts, if they sign with us? If Getzlaf keeps beasting the whole year like he's done the first couple of games, I can imagine him getting 7 - 8mil, but if Perry has a slump year would he still get the same?

Maybe but I don't see him signing with us again unless he has some security

I dont think he'd stay without a ntc... but i wouldnt mind giving him if he continues hitting that 30 mark. I have to imagine when selanne retires hell be close to if not 40, getting teemus powerplay spot. Whatever getz and perry get is what ryan is going to want.

I can't see how we wouldn't be able to keep Bobby aswell as the Twins. Selänne is going to retire at some point and I'll be very surprised if he's still going strong when Ryan's contract is ending. They could use Selänne's money for Bobby's next contract and I doubt that they would even have to spend it all on him.

Actually if Selänne is going to retire after this season, signing Perry and Getzlaf for 8mil per year wouldn't be too hard to do. They currently get 5,325 mil each so 8 mil would be 2,675 raise for each so 5,350 combined. Selänne's 4,5 is freed for them so 0,850 mil would have to be "taken" elsewhere. With Lydman's and Koivu's contracts ending this shouldn't be hard to do (doubt that either would get raises if the continue with the Ducks).

In theory, if Getzlaf and Perry would get 9 mil contracts, then money coming from Selänne's retirement and Lydman's contract ending would be enough to cover their payraises (and would leave 150k to spend if my math is correct). Although, two contracts worth of 9 mils would seriously hurt signing other players like Palmieri unless someone gets traded for nothing but, I don't except the Ducks paying both 18 millions combined.

If the twins actually get $8M+, I can't see how we would be able to keep him long-term. As soon as next year, we'd be paying $21M+ for three forwards. I don't think that's a very promising blueprint for success in this league. Anyway, I'll start worrying about Bobby when we know what's happening with Getzlaf and Perry.

I'm really doing my calculations based on if the worst happens (or actually worst thing would be that they wouldn't sign with Anaheim). I think that the team could still be manageable if they got 8 mil each, atleast for few seasons. Of course, I'm hoping for Getzlaf to be a captain and lead by example that he can take a hometown discount and 7 mil for him would be very good IMO.

I for one don't care what we pay Perry. 10 mil 5 mil 2 mil I dont care! I just want him signed as soon as possible. Make it happen, Murray.
