Someone put OP on suicide watch after MacKinnon just won tournament MVP

The gift box too. Make it sting.Yep. I've seen enough. Take his Cup and medals away.
That’s because it’s a big game. He’s not a money player, which is why he’s nowhere near one of the all-time greats.
McOverrated is supposed to elevate guys upward. Crosby made Kunitz & Dupuis into far better players on their way to a couple of Cups.
I know it's always Mack vs. McDavid but Makar is the only one to truly put it in debate. Thought he was the best player tonight in a star-studded game. Cream rises to the top.
Wait a second. You think Hughes (an absolutely fantastic player and top 3 dman in the world) is better then McDavid?Because I agree that Mac is not the best player in the world. You probly have no problem calling Makar the McDavid of defencemen. Well, Quinn Hughes is much better than Makar right now. Hughes is simply the best player in the world. Hughes prevents a large amount of goals because he is elite in the d zone, plus he scores at a 100 point pace.
Yep he had a rough one. We'll see what happens at the Olympics. Tough assignment for himMeanwhile, Toews was probably the worst player on the ice for both teams.
Sure, I'm fine with the claim that Mcdavid is still the best player in the world, but the gap between him and the next best player in the world(MacKinnon) is nowhere near as much some on here seem to be suggesting. In fact it's quite small, substantially smaller then the gap between say; Orr, Gretzky, Lemieux and the next best player in the world during each of their respective peaks.MacKinnon is great, but I think it would be a very minority opinion that he is the best player in the world. Even in an article on The Athletic today they reference MacKinnon casually calling McDavid the best player in the world and saying "it's obvious" as to why.
I think this tourny showed no matter who you are. When facing the absolute best players every game. The gap is not as big as we think.Sure, I'm fine with the claim that Mcdavid is still the best player in the world, but the gap between him and the next best player in the world(MacKinnon) is nowhere near as much some on here seem to be suggesting. Anyways, the MVP thropy is a nice notch on MacKinnon’s belt, we wouldn't have won this without him.
Ok? McDavid isn't Gretzky, Lemieux, or Orr. MacKinnon is a great player of historical significance. Not being the best player in the world, and he re-iterated in his post game press conference tonight that McDavid is the best player in the world, is not something to be ashamed of.Sure, I'm fine with the claim that Mcdavid is still the best player in the world, but the gap between him and the next best player in the world(MacKinnon) is nowhere near as much some on here seem to be suggesting. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you've previously categorized him as already being in the same tier as those three (along with Howe). Or am I mistaken?Ok? Nah I still think he's one of the best in the game. Just an absolute beast all over the ice.He just have the iq. Physical beast but man… he just leaves you wanting more.

In any case, my point was more about the current gap between them. As you said, there's nothing to be "ashamed of" in being the second-best player in the world - or at least having a very strong case for it - rather than the best. The real question is: how big is that gap right now?
Based on this tournament and the past two seasons, I’d argue it’s quite small and McDavid is still in his peak right now. That’s something we should keep in mind when the time comes to evaluate Conner’s historical standing.
/threadMcKinnon led his club to the Cup. That’s why I tier him above McDavid. If McDavid leads a club to a Cup then he moves into the higher tier.
It’s like ppl don’t know hockey. MacKinnon wasn’t even the best player on his team that year. makar was. Without him they don’t likely win it. Makar was the game changer combined with insane depth that cup run. It is after all a team sport.McKinnon led his club to the Cup. That’s why I tier him above McDavid. These great players are separated by minutiae. But ask them about how they value the Cup. To them that’s the key to their legacy.,
I have never considered McDavid on the big four level. He's the step below that.Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you've previously categorized him as already being in the same tier as those three (along with Howe). Or am I mistaken?

My apologies, I confused you with another poster from the history of hockey section in regards to this.I have never considered McDavid on the big four level. He's the step below that.
Cups cement the legacy of the greatest. McKinnon was key in a Cup win. He is slightly ahead of McDavid. It’s like ppl don’t know hockey. Kucherov needed to kill the NHL all star game and skills competition so that the four nations face off could live.Another undeserved MVP he stole from Kucherov.
