The people saying we need to keep Mike Sullivan to continue the tank, I think you are missing the point.

If you don't change the culture, the James Hagens and Gavin McKenna types of this world are not going to save the franchise. Even this team's winners have forgotten what it is like.

Besides, there are ZERO guarantees Mike Sullivan gets fired. Zero. It could happen, but David Quinn is probably next in line.

If the people whose job it is to critique this team don't wake up, if the fans don't start revolting against this franchise, nothing will change.

This organization is broken. There is absolutely no quick fix.

Just can't hang. Sucks being second rate after so many years of being a threat at any given moment.

This is my argument for not even wanting the prospects playing. Leave them in WBS. I don't want them learning this shit style.

POJ with a -4 in 13 minutes of ice time tonight. Yeesh.

If you're a recent Penguin and you head to the Blues, best of luck to ya. Kap's an ECHL player nowadays.

Very sad.

Pens are my 2nd favourite team and I'm always cheering for Crosby to do well. I hope they turn it around soon. Would love to see Crosby in the playoffs again

We got people sobbing in the stands over a goalie that hasn't been with the team in almost a decade. Yinzers are too stupid to stop showing up to games or buying merch.

Best hope we have, imo, is if Sully gets sick of losing and thinks he's too good for where this franchise is at and he steps down after the season. FSG has been nothing but dogshit since taking over and Dubas either loves Sullivan, or doesn't have the power to fire him.

Would be nice to see this team have two 10-game losing streaks this season or something though. Really give the team zero wiggle room when pressed as to why Sullivan is still coaching.

Please fire Sullivan. GIVE US STUFF TO TALK ABOUT
Oh there's plenty to talk about. Like keeping the dinosaurs who backed Sullivan around, trying to play fast when you're one of the slower and older teams. There's the draft lottery, who might we trade at the TDL, etc. So, plenty to talk about right now.

The worst part about shitty ownership is there's not even any hope they get fired or something. I mean, there's really no hope Sullivan gets fired, but there's a non-zero chance if this team tanks the season, misses for a third time in a row, and lands in like a top-3 pick. But owners? You're stuck with those f***ers until they decide to sell, or the league forces them to sell because they did some racist shit. Which, again, for Boston guys is always a possibility.

I actually don't mind celebrating the past. If we're not complete shit in the present while we do it. Which we are.
Yeah. I'm just bitter right now because the present sucks so badly and there's no hope for the foreseeable future. I'd rather they just bottom out already and start building for the future. Instead we are stuck treading water while slowly sinking.

This team sucks.

They should have never let Fleury go. Not that it would change that this team sucks but letting him go for Murray was a huge mistake in hindsight. You can't criticize the team for making that call but it ended up just a miserable mistake.
Was a double whammy because Fleury on the Knights is a major reason why the Caps won the Cup, since he goalie’d Winnipeg only to choke in the finals vs Washington. Was a very cursed series of events, likely because Cole sold his soul for 2017.

It's more of a double whammy because the Penguins have had dogshit goaltending since 2018, outside of Jarry having his one-off good years.

Either way, the team sucks and I'd rather just enjoy watching a shitty team than loathe it. At least Fleury is a likeable guy getting as many wins as possible to help his HOF career, compared to whatever Tristan Jarry is doing out there. I'm not going to dwell on it though, this isn't even "goaltending is an issue on this team" and it's more "this team is so damn unlikeable and I wish there were more likeable guys".

Why are so many mad that fans loved Fleury?

It's so bizarre the reaction that gets here.
Probably because it's equally strange the fans would cheer and weep for him immediately after watching their team roll over and die for the 6th straight time. That wouldn't happen in very many places in this league. Just imagine the reaction when Sully comes back coaching the Flyers to victory here after they s***can Torts

There is a large subset of fans that nearly deify him. And that subset tends to pretty much ignore when he was dog shit (looking at you Pens vs Flyers series somewhere in like 2012 or 2014)

I think he does deserve some sort of revearance to the franchise though. Tbh I went through periods of liking him, disliking him, then liking him again. Now, I'm at peace with it. He deserves a spot in the HHOF and all the criticism for when he was dogshit.

He has had a legendary career and his accolades reflect that. 3 cups, 1 back to back. A Vezina, a Gold medal (3rd string goalie though). And ranks high on a lot of all time goalie stats. Name me a goalie with a comparable resume that is not in the Hall.

But man was he ass sometimes, and that's alright. At least now it is

Also his splits windmill glove saves were f***in dope

I'm sort of hoping this team continues to struggle.

It means Sullivan will be on his way out. Something needs to change.
