Lack of depth or coach usage? Dubas revamped the bottom 6 as best he could. Sully continues to sully however.

I'd ding him on Graves, Smith, and Jarry's (contract).

I'd say this "fault" hasn't BEEN on Dubas - the fault IS Dubas, now, because of his refusal to address giant bold-faced messaging on the wall. Grow a set and make some change. This bullshit take of coming in and doing your own assessment on a failed coach (with five years of evidence) then just giving him everything he wants and watching us fight for our lives to stay in second-to-last place. It's embarrassing. What does Dubas expect to change from October to November to December to now JANUARY?

He deserves every ounce of shit and more - now/recently.

They are rebuilding.

Soon.

The only question is when. Now? This off-season? Next? They certainly aren't a legit cup contender and there is no trade or new coach that will make them one.

The only thing that they can control is when the rebuild starts. The longer that they wait, the longer until they are legitimately good again.
I wish. We’ll be spinning our tires trading futures for mediocre finishes for like 6 more years.

Hopefully FSG just bites the bullet and sells us for a loss at that point otherwise we’re going to be treated like any other underperforming asset in the portfolio of an investment firm and just scorched to bare bones with minimum financial investment while the team goes into a dark period not seen since the 80s.

Happy holidays, everyone.

Smith and Geno havent been the same with Rakell out. They miss him.

Has Graves been bad or does he look bad because his partner is brain dead half the time?

Boring. They take Puus and stick him with Sid for like 3 shifts? Lol. Why? What was the point? Throw Geno off?

This coach makes zero sense anymore. I cant even guess his idiocy.

I'll answer the second emphatically - he's been AWFUL. I don't know how anyone could argue otherwise. Graves finished with POJ tonight and I hope by next Summer he finishes on another team. He can't make a pass. He can't clear the puck. He can't shoot on net. He has horse blinders moving the puck up the ice (which is why he overly-defers to his partners). I mean, pretty much every category (board battles too) you want a defender to be good to decent in, he's been bad in.

I'm not blaming the guy for every breakaway goal. Everything he does and is as an individual in individual-specific plays is bad. His best has been mediocre. His one on ones, his lane stoppages, his crease clearing. I mean it's honestly easier to try and name things he DOES bring to the table.

Anyway, Smith, Geno, and Rakell- were they a 16M line? No. Even when we had them we were a 1.5 line team. At that cost it shouldn't be the case. Smith was a bad signing because we HAD Rakell who already had chemistry with both Sid and Geno. We had a useless Zucker who we got rid of only to bring a carbon-copy player in to play the same weird role. If Geno likes him, then trade Rakell. Frankly I'd look to drop both and free the 10M for an actual offensive difference maker.

What did the owners do?

Dubas has been fine.

The owners that gave a coach who hasn’t won anything in years an extension 2 years early?

Dubas has built a team with 0 depth every year of his professional career.
Except many of those players who got points tonight vs these Penguins are directly from Dubas building depth for his former team.

The 2 guys with 3 points were UFA signings after he left. Marner and Nylander are not depth players. Also, the goalie that shut us out was a UFA signing after he left. Congrats, he drafted a guy in Knies who doesn’t suck.

Kris lost that game, all by himself. He had about 20 of those games last season. He’s up to around 5 this season. We’re a worse team with him.

We scored 0 goals. Thats not completely on Letang. Most of the goals against he had a part of though.

Coach Sullivan: "We just didn't play very well... I will certainly dissect it. I'm not quite sure how I'll respond to it. It's a humbling experience. We didn't perform to our expectations and it's disappointing. We're all in this thing together - we gotta figure it out."

Tonight was Pens' second-worst defeat under Sullivan, surpassed only by their 1-10 loss at Chicago on 10/5/17.

Not gonna lie, I thought you made this up at first. Sullivan actually saying this is comical. Yeah I wonder what the issue is lol. Go look in a mirror

Yea I am really tired of Sullivan's identification with the roster. When he was brought in it was pretty clear he was in control, now he's just one of the guys and his post game comments have consistently trended that way the last couple years,
