Maybe the reporters who asked that question were trying to see if ZAR's line was going to match up against the Hab's top line, and ZAR wanted to not reveal the Pens' hand?

I think people are just wanting to shit on ZAR. It's a weird time and I took that as he just was disengaged from hockey for that 5 month period so he lost touch with who is on what team/line.

Honestly.. it will take me a minute to remember their whole team w/o looking. I honestly couldn't name you a single line of theirs. They were fading and not in the picture so I stopped paying attention to them. But even the Flyers/Caps/etc.. I'd have to look up the rosters against and get back in that zone.

That's how I took it.

That first paragraph is certainly ironic coming from you. I have no bone to pick with ZAR. Those comments come off arrogant as f*** though.

Given how the scrimmages were laid out they certainly were trying to mimic the Habs against our main stars so I doubt our # 1 match up line is unaware of their first line unless Sullivan is as dumb as @Honour Over Glory thinks he is.

I hope so Cole, any indicia of the players not giving a sh** will ruin the entire thing for me.

There has been weird verbiage. "tournament" is a word thrown around over and over again. Some of the coaches haven't seemed dialed up to 12 like normal. That's the realization that a pandemic is going on. It's tough to treat this like life or death when outside the walls is legit life and death. It's tough.

??? Pixies.. you've been on tilt here lately. I have a history of calling it like it is. And I've stated about 3 trillion times we would purposely exaggerate a few things around here for fun. Example - my love for Vitale and Zigomanis. My hatred for ZAR. It's just exaggerating to add a little humor to it. I've made this statement so many times. You've read it a bunch. If you want to ignore it, go ahead.

i understand that there are far bigger issues than sports, but that was always the case even pre-COVID.

I do not understand why this is considered such a novelty or side-show tournament. I know a few more teams got in but they are finishing a season where they played damn near 70/82 regular season games. 69 I believe (nice). I guess it is because there has been a long break.

Sorry not you as arrogant. ZAR. I just mean I have no issue with him and you hate him lol.

I mean tension, passion, and a story grows as the season goes. Anyone who has played will tell ya, when that season ends it's like a chapter of your life is over. The next year isn't the same even if it's the same uniform. Every season has a story and builds character and culminates with a Cup. This one is soooo weird. Real life took over. FIVE months have gone by before hockey is played. That's more than an off season. So a lot of the tension, pain, and heart disappears naturally. Someone will win it. It will forever have a weird feeling/vibe. And it is what it is.

I played so I get what your saying to an extent but also believe in the competitive nature of these players.

That's not us and Sully though. It's been a pretty much constant refrain from the org, from the beat reporters, from Sully himself - this is an exciting opportunity, that this could be number four. It's the Cup and we get to go with a fully rested, almost fully fit squad when nobody expected it and our core is one of the older ones. This could be the best chance remaining. The scrimmages looked like that wasn't just talk - there were guys dropping the gloves.

I don't know what this is. Maybe Sully's deliberately kept it to just regaining systems so far and will do the fine-tune learn the match-up after the Flyers. Maybe ZAR's been told and he's a moron. Who knows? It's probably not a big deal. But it does raise a question and I don't think the answer is just general lack of investment. That's not the vibe. The visible/reported vibe is the team is excited, and that Sid and Geno will be mailing anyone who's not invested to Siberia in multiple boxes.

Easy answer: they'll look like the clowns they are.

Julien's system makes these guys look good night in and night out, but 5 games against a contender? Jeff freaking Petry won't look good defensively.

So, Julien's magnificent duo with Danault, and hoping Weber and whatever he has left can go against Geno's line. Honestly, as I keep saying, Mike Sullivan, through his use of Jack Johnson, can do more to deter L2 than Claude Julien can.

The one thing I liked @Peat is that the 3rd/4th scrimmage had some fire in it. Like some legit fire. Guys were actually chirping and into it on the bench. Guys were finishing hits and even going after one another. I liked.

I question any sort of analysis that has the Habs 4th line as better than the Penguins 4th line, let alone the fact that the chart has Gallagher and Guentzel as equals.

Meh. Gallagher and Guentzel are both pretty equal. i sense Gallagher would be putting up Guentzel numbers next to Sid.

The only thing I can recall...and boy it's blurry is that Montreal's speed gave us a bit of a fit. They played us pretty hard. And it's been 5 months so who the f*** knows what happens. I love our team but it's a tournament. It is what it is. There is no easy win and that is the truth.

As logical as that might seem in theory, I think that undersells Jake . . . we've seen a number of cases of guys who would be putting up X numbers with Sid who, in fact, did not.

They did play us hard, but the one they won was because of goaltending (Price made a ton of sick saves and Jarry's insane shut out streak came to an end and, when it did, he let his guard down a little).

End of the day, this one comes down to goaltending, Sid's health, and Sullivan limiting how he uses his third pairing . . . and all three need to work out to the Habs collective favor.

Well duh, he's Russian, so he was supposed to kill it with Geno.

BTW, I love that JR legit thought there was a little something to that or at least spouted it to justify it.
