Rupp saying the same thing I was . . . the teams that will be there most quickly are the ones that play with the best structure.

I couldn't find the game on my channels at all(in Ontario). I hope the qualifying games will be on.

I like our chances at the first overall pick then....

I'm torn here.

I mean, you're right in the abstract.

But, I watching these guys, and most of them have another notch or two to turn things up. Kind of hard to beat the trap when you're sort of going through the motions.

When will they “flip the switch” against the Habs?

3rd period of game 3, down 2-0 in the series and trailing?

Tighter defence, less fancy stuff in the attacking zone. Bit of progress.

What a boring period.

Neither team could sustain pressure in the ozone 5v5.

Looked like a DPE game.

Which is why I don't know how much you read into this.

I mean, there's more reason for concern watching this, for sure, but when both teams are kind of out for a skate and only one is playing a structured neutral zone strap, it's not going to look good for the other team.

So, what do you take from that? The Pens are ****** if they don't bust their asses. I think we knew that already, yes?

Need a be
Hard to find much to get excited about here, but, while maybe I'm rusty from the break, it sure seems like they've spared no expense with respect to TV cameras. Seems like more interesting angles/perspectives than usual?

Need a behind the glass cam that periodically bangs the glass like a drunk fan...

They were talking about this on NHL radio. Maybe I misheard it, but someone said they added 12 camera angles.

This goes back to something I was discussing with @Peat in the final scrimmage. He was talking about Letang trying his things and it not working, and I noted that it's not going to work unless he's all in out there.

It's ugly, but it's hard to take much from this when so few Pens are playing with desperation.

I mean, the trap literally beats a team by sucking the life out of it. If you're playing without life you start, it's a problem.

Deffo a little harder if it's not full timing and full adrenaline. But to a certain extent I think they're deliberately taking a few risks and trying a few things. Realistically, having a team try stuff and fine tune their handling by taking risky options isn't the worst use of pre-season. Get the defensive structure back, get the hands back. And this is pre-season.

And yeah, don't go so soft you go in half-hearted and get hurt... but don't go all out and get hurt.

Honestly, as long as the team's playing better every period, then it's okay. And I think that happened.

It's great for the reason that some of this might stick around when fans are allowed back in games, which makes for some awesome visuals for breakaways or a better view of a well executed powerplay coming to fruition.
