Absolutely. I liked Dewar in Minnesota. Did not follow him much in Toronto but Dewar and Duhaime were a nice duo in Minny, and it seems he and Lizotte are doing similar things in Pit. Obviously, we should have dealt Acciari at the deadline but we did not for whatever reason. I would like to see someone else playing with Dewar and Lizotte next season as the FOURTH line, not the current third line. I think both Hallander and A. Hayes have the skill set to play that role with those two guys. And hey, maybe even add a modicum of additional offense to the group.
Anyway, we can't be too upset that the plans for the first round seem to be altering when the winning streak is largely because of the infusion of new players, the subtraction of players who were overdue to leave and the renaissance of the goaltender who has limited to no trade value.
This Eastern Conference is so wide open right now, we might as well take a run at it. Meanwhile, keep losing NYR! Let's go Blue Jackets tonight!
The fact that Kolyachonok is playing with Letang and they don't suck together; the fact Graves is back in the lineup and he and Timmins do not suck together; the fact that Dewar and Heinen are contributing...all of those things are positives moving forward.
I personally would like to see us use those four call-ups before the end of the regular season on some prospects, but otherwise no complaints. Other than the obvious question: where in the blue hell was this type of performance earlier this season? Why must we always spot teams X number of points every year, sink to the nether regions of the overall standings prior to the deadline, dump players and then go on a streak that will end in us missing out only because of how piss-poor the start was?
It's annoying.
