Its been a fault since 1998 for this franchise. Long before Landeskog.

Yeah it has, so you should know better.

You and @expatriatedtexan have been nothing but negative lately, even mid day not drunk.

Ya'all both need to dial it back 10%. I don't want to talk shit all day for three days just to be funny, because it's not realistic or funny.

Between talking shit we used to talk hockey, and have some analyiticly valuable conversations.

I just find myself avoiding getting into the conversation a lot lately. Especially with you two. That sucks..

Can we talk about Malkin with the game on the line? Loses the puck and then goes controller disconnected on Lehky's EN goal, and then hauls Drury down on his EN goal, ensuring the goal either way

I'd be losing my mind as a Pens fan, what a lazy plug
Malkin is cooked, no doubt, but Lehkonen's ENG is not on him. He's about to make a play on the puck and at the last second Hayes tips it in a different direction. Completely threw him off and allowed Lehkonen to take the puck with ease.

My biggest problem with Bednar is he can't get what happened last game to happen next game anymore.

I don't think it's all on him, but God f*** it's infuriating.

I've never pushed for just leadership, but Marchand is an absolute need for the lockeroom if you can't get Kadri back.

Bednar looking blind sided by these games fkn concerns me. A lot..
Exactly this. It's a mess. The team is not remotely cohesive. One game they look great, next they look like they've never played a game together.

Leadership is severely lacking. Adding one guy isn't going to change this. It's a culture thing. You need a bunch of "locker room guys" to keep ship pointed in the right direction. One guy isn't changing this mess.

I will give management some credit, they removed a bunch of the players who were problems. However the glue guys are still missing. Not sure how you fix that this year.

Yeah.. it's sad, because Malkin was better than Crosby early in their careers. Definitely not overall, but as a fan it sucks to see Malkin so bad. He's definitely done.

I definitely have a soft spot for Russians. I defended Semin with many blogs lol. I was right early, but not later.

Leadership no longer on the team since Game 6 vs Tampa.

Cogliano
Landeskog
EJ
JJ
Helm
Kadri

Thats a massive massive hit to that rooms culture. Yes some of those guys were/are in the twilights of their career and arent the greatest players anymore but their leadership was so invaluable to that cup team and the Avs no longer have that at the moment. Leadership is one of those things we kinda overlook because you cant really measure it on a stat sheet but anyone whose played sports knows how important it is.

If Lindgren can just prove to be a reliable #5 with decent skating I’m fine with him, particularly if we can sign him to a Jake Evans contract.
Zero issues with Lindgren being a #5 if he continues playing the way he did tonight.

A defensive defender who doesnt loose the puck on offensive mistakes like Manson all the time is a god sent.
The good thing about Lindgren is he knows he cant dangle so he keeps it simple kinda like Chris Tanev does. Manson on the other hand thinks hes prime Bourque out there at times with his overhandling of the puck.

Toews
Lindgren
Malinski

The top three defensive contributors from defensemen tonight.

Matches the eye test as Girard, Kylington, and Makar were definitely weaker than those 3.

Wood, Colton, Kiviranta, Drouin, Girard, and Kylington with awful nights all around.

This suggests Wood didn’t do a single positive thing on either offensive or defensive sides of the puck tonight.

I didn’t know what to make of MW tonight. I swear there was one shift in the defensive zone where he was the closest guy to the Penguins player with the puck and he totally veered off to cover someone else, but no one else was close enough so that guy set up a scoring chance. There were other times on the forecheck he just looked like he was wandering aimlessly.

Of all things that go into an institution, a group, a model... leadship and lack of is at the top of the pyramid.

IOW, you are correct.

This team is operating right where they deserve to be given this supreme lack of...

Love this goalie duo. Their personalities were needed as much as their goaltending ability.

When was the last time the Avs had a real vet duo? Not including those deadline deals for guys that were only here a month or two. Varly and JSG probably right?

This feels different though. Like both guys are a team. Genuinely rooting for each other and always upbeat.

Positive note.. Lindgren was solid, not perfect, but solid, and having a DFD that has some offensive instincts is nice.

I was generally happy with his first game for 2Mil

Yeah I thought Lindgren was ok his first game and that's pretty good all things considered. He's a strong skater so that'll come in handy playing on this team. His only issue IMO is that he over plays the body on a lot of plays and gets beat as a result of not being that big and strong. Nevertheless, in a bottom pairing role, I like him a lot so far.

His play at the end of the game where he dumped the Penguins player behind our net and cleared the puck is something I feel like this team has been missing for a while. The simple, take the body and negate the chance play.

Well, whatever. We won. It’s not like they take away points in the standings for underperforming.

TDL still hasn’t passed yet… saving my blame and outrage for the stretch / playoffs at this point

3-0 since dumbass puckhog nuke came back. Loved his solo celly after setting up Casey
