So is everyone in agreement that Sully is the main problem and a better coach will solve everything?
Sorry but look at the team, it's in shambles. We have an aging core bolstered by more old guys like Eller (who I do actually like). They brought in an expensive Letang 2.0 that can't defend and supplies turnovers... just like Letang. We have a couple of glimmers on the roster like Rusty and Rakell, but I mean come on the rest of the team is unadulterated mediocrity with sh*t flakes on top. Let's not even talk about the situation in net...

I hated Burke and Hextall but Dubas is not giving our coach or any future coach an easy time.

the only thing that will save sullivan's job is a miraculous turnaround and that's not happening. realistically he should be canned by christmas, crosby has enormous influence and if his point per game record that he *REALLY* wants is in jeopardy you can bet your ass he's gonna voice some displeasure behind the scenes. some ways we should trade crosby away for a king's ransom and start the rebuild in earnest. As much as I would hurt inside to see another sweater on him it would be better for him and the organization.

I bet you things could keep going at this rate and in fact get even worse and Sullivan goes nowhere until at least post-Olympics.

Sully is part of the problem, and at the end of the day and going forward he is not the solution and what we want with younger players coming in!

Dubas for all we know probably doesn't have the power to fire MS and that's IMO the major problem here..

Its kind of shocking that Gryz has been in the league so long. If you are undersized at least be quick. It looks like hes skating through sand

The roster has been turned almost entirely over outside of the core like four times in six seasons and throughout the course of three whole GMs. If the core was just trash then yeah... clear that that would be a massive issue in their underperforming. But they aren't and in fact are maybe the only thing decent left on the team.

If the coach has had this many years with this many rosters with this many GMs and has had huge (total?) input on the makeup of his team and system... what in the world ELSE would it be? This isn't just a "this year" thing. This has been going on a while... including years where this team was still considered a "contender."

I agree that Dubas is trash and that the two GMs prior to him committed their fair share of malpractice but Sullivan is absolutely the biggest bottleneck to moving forward one way or the other and has been for a while.

EDIT: Do you really want Mike Sullivan developing this team's prospects? His approach to player development is so poor that I'd rather they just spend the futures instead of keep them. And with how trash this team is that's CLEARLY an unwise plan on my part but it feels smarter than allowing Sullivan and his staff to get their hands on them.

How many times has this BAD roster not shown up prepared for games? Enough that Sully obviously cannot manage a group of players anymore. It's 100% his job to have them execute OR held to account for failing to do so.

Spoiler alert: this exact thing has happened DOZENS of times post B2B. When he had FAR BETTER rosters. He can't manage.

He's the damned common denominator. Anyone saying this roster won't be good, so might as well keep Sullivan, is someone who is fine settling for mediocrity. Pro sports are a zero sum game. If you aren't trying to improve, what the hell product are you selling? You can be proud of little leaguers trying but failing. Not pros.

Really rubs me the wrong way if Dubus actually said everyone but 87 is available. Put some respect on 71’s name. He sacrificed a lot for this team and should be held in the same regard

Also fire the f***ing coach you moron.

This team has been treating 71 like an also-ran for a while, now. Extra funny right now when he's like one of the only maybe three guys on the whole team that looks even semi-respectable and has done everything his doof coach has asked of him.

Quite frankly, this isn't a stacked team anymore, I doubt any other coach could make this disaster of a team a viable playoff team. They need talent, not just any talent, good, way above average, talent. Young or old X 3 or 4 and maybe, maybe they can squeak into the playoffs.

So who cares if he's the HC. They are not doing anything during his contract anyways or anyone else for that time period, either. This has compounded each and every season for quite some time.

You can't get blood from a stone/squeeze more talent out of bottom six talent

I care because the team is nigh on unwatchable and about as good at developing young players as Yohe is at criticizing Sullivan. Tanking is fine if it's on purpose and with the idea of developing young talent. A team being super old and yet "tanking" inadvertedly with no end in sight is a different animal altogether.

it rules that many Penguins fans secretly want us to be the Pirates.

(This is sarcasm, those people are trash and should get papercuts constantly.)
