Because they stuck with that coach, KIRK.

If our board were Hawks fans and controlled the fate of their coach, they certainly wouldn't have.

And if they hadn't won the cup, Q would've been gone 3 years removed from winning a cup.

So, what's your point, then. That Chicago would've been wrong to can him if he **** the bed again. Well, he didn't, unlike Bylsma.

so the clear, obvious answer is to stick with Bylsma. THEN the Pens will win another Cup.

I'm not saying that. I'm saying patience is a virtue, and anybody who says the Pens should be more like the Hawks because they don't stick with coaches through rough periods isn't too well-versed in recent NHL history.

DB looked especially annoyed in that post game. I enjoyed it.

Remind be what happened the year before and the year after those two 1st round exits???

Sweet argument BTW.

Well, no, you see, they wouldn't have won that second cup if they didn't stick with Q.

Yeah, they'd have fired Q last year if they didn't reach the finals or had lost ugly in the playoffs, but it didn't happen.

So, if you're going to give Q three tries, you ought to give Bylsma five at a minimum.

Makes sense to me.

I seriously am almost hoping for a quick first round exit in the hopes that management will realize this team just isnt going to cut it.

What was the point of bringing Jacques Martin in the coaching staff. We still look like the same crappy undisciplined defensively team of years past. I mean is it the system? because every team that fore checks 3 deep consistently hems us in our zone and when their D-man take away the wall, we have no options of getting puck out. I see ton of teams do that against the Pens. Its a weakness we have to work on but its not getting fixed when it should've been fixed after the Flyers debacle.

It's been 5 years and four humiliating playoff exits with Bylsma. For the Blackhawks, it's been three years in between cups with only two bad playoff exits. Big difference between the two teams.

Not much good happened in this game. I thought Pyatt looked decent by his standards early in the game. I thought Adams was good on the PK. Megna wasn't used much and looked rusty in his limited opportunities.

Kobasew looks about as done as Brenden Morrow did during last years playoffs.

Just a mess of a performance. Hopefully it was just rust but the team has been allowing an alarming number of goals lately. Their improved early season defense and goaltending seems to be fading recently.

Onto the next game...

i think the Pens are TOO patient with their coaching and a select few players.

My point is that the Hawks went through a rougher couple of years than we ever have with Sid and Geno, stuck with their coach, and it paid off.

Holy **** I just figured something out.

Every Cup winner has a head coach. The Pens have a head coach.

Every Cup winner has vets. The Pens have vets.

Every Cup winner loses regular season games. The Pens lose regular season games.

Every Cup winner has lost a PO series at some point in their recent past. The Pens have lost a PO series in their recent past.

So the Pens are basically guaranteed a Cup this year.

With several injuries and a 90 point lead in the division, NOW is the time to experiment and see if maybe, just maybe the guy's a good player.

Said I wouldn't gripe much about this one, but this post deserves to be seconded.
Actually, I would go further still and say that it is and has since before the season been completely obvious that we would be the premier team in the division, so early days of the season as well as now are times where one can experiment.
Of course injuries play a part here in determining who could get a shot, but precedence quite clearly tells us that without injuries, Bylsma will play his hierarchy rather than try out potential 'fits'.

Goes back to what I have been saying here for.... what... three-four years... that Dan doesn't get complementarity. At all.
He believes in it though, what with him wanting to stick with whatever combinations he has gotten settled in his head, on ice performance be damned.

Losing in the 2nd and 3rd rounds = humiliating.
Losing in the 1st round = bad.

I don't subscribe to your interpretation of events.

After the Olympics the Pens play a really challenging schedule beginning in March and by the end of March, everyone should have a much better feel for the team and it's chances. Me thinks the Pens will be exposed physically by the top western teams and Shero will be stuck paying some players way to much for average production.

They way they lost, with the Penguins losing their heads and Bylsma refusing to make any sort of adjustments, yeah it's been pretty bad.

People - "Omg, they beat us 5-1!"

Earlier in the year...they beat the Pens 6-3. Could the Panthers have the Pens number? Nah, our coach is just an idiot that doesn't know how to hold people accountable or employ a proper structured system.

But, he's pals with the GM, like BFF's with matching bracelets, this is what our team is now.
