Has there been a more negative situation with Pittsburgh sports in the last 20 years as it is right now? I really think you have to go back to 2003 before the Steelers drafted Ben to get such futility with Pittsburgh sports as it has now.

All of the Steelers, Penguins and Pirates are highly mediocre, with the Steelers and Penguins trending down (or at least not trending positively).
I wouldn't exactly say that the Pirates are trending up except that there is no where else to go when you are at the bottom. They do at least have on paper some talent in the minors which is something I suppose.

Dubas has to make a move. You don't go out and get Erik Karlsson just to watch your team wallow below the playoff line well into December. Reirden is a goner, but I think that's rearranging the deck chairs, and I have to think Dubas is smart enough to know that too. Something else has gotta give - preferably Sullivan.
Nailed it. We’re well past the point of rearranging the assistant coaches. We need a complete change top to bottom, someone who isn’t going to ride GCR until they’re ice cold bc he’s out of ideas.

Everything is stale. Sacking Rierden, even if it does the PP back on track won’t change the larger picture

When we hired MS didnt we go on a 4 game losing streak right off the bat? after we just steamrolled everyone.
Yeah, iirc both Flower and Tanger were injured, too. Tough waters to wade into right off the hop, but I very clearly remember how they immediately looked better, too, just didn't get the results, and "trust the process" was actually something to get behind.

We're 5th in the league at 5v5 GF and 9th best at 5v5 GA. Not sure where the PK is after tonight, but it's in the top half.

If not for Reirden and the PP, we'd have a much better record.

You're not wrong; the power play is by far the biggest issue with this team. But I think the responsibility for their woes goes beyond Reirden, especially considering how long it's been since the Penguins have looked like a consistently good team. When was the last time it really seemed like the Pens had a shot to win the cup? 2018?

Fire Iceburgh!!!

Iceburgh vs Mike Sullivan. Which one keeps their job with the penguins?

Just listened to Geno postgame and he said they lacked confidence and were nervous out there…these are world class players…please fire the damn coach already!

also, there’s this…lol

It doesn't look too great for the pens with the call up in Rust is out on Friday night. I'd call up Pitlick since he is leading the WB pens in scoring.
Call up Puusty…I know he hasn’t had a good season in WBS…but nothing to lose…he’s a skilled player and god knows we need more of those lol

I'd like to see Gruden up as well.

Guentzel Crosby O'Connor
Zohorna Malkin Puustinen
Gruden Eller Smith
Harkins Koppanen Carter/Nylander

Man this feels like a pivotal point in the season. Something substantials gotta come from this.

Why exactly? Sometimes the mediocrity just goes on and on.

Spoiler alert. The Pens will have marginal win streaks, and the power play will score, but for the most part what we have seen is who the Pens are.

There is no magic pill, no magic hire, no genie with wishes.

The Pens are mediocre at best. Embrace it. Or not. But having unrealistic expectations just sets you up for disappointment.
