Dumoulin really is trash now. Toronto's first goal is a result of Denis "I'm 5'6" Malgin outmuscling Dumoulin along the boards.

Like, what does Dumoulin even do well at this point?
Find me a guy that's 6'4 210lbs that is so weak in his battles. He's always looked weak against physical players.

He can’t stay on his skates now against guys half a foot shorter and 40lbs lighter. He’s done as an NHL player. He’ll even get exploited on a 3rd pairing. He’s that weak on his skates now.

Death, taxes, and Jeff Carter's line having a bad 5v5 xg %

They need to shoot but they were controlling play
Maybe we should stop playing him like he’s a shutdown center and give him more favorable matchups. He’s constantly out there be Tavares’ line.

He used to be tough to beat because of his reach. But it's like he's using a mini-stick now because he's not even tough to get around.
Right his stick work and quick feet used to save him. Now he's got anchors for skates and he can't lean on being physical because he's never been.

His career is close to done.

yeh, they had a decent last game, but they played on two PKs tonight, maybe McGinn was out of breath....he drives that line, JC is who he is...

Once again, I’ll point to the cup finalists last year and how they used their top dogs. Not sheltered, not given a thousand offensive zone starts.

Sullysma strikes again.

Anytime someone touches Dumo now, he looks exactly like a used car lot inflatable tube man when it’s really windy.

It wouldn't be so bad if Sully used the bottom six as defensive specialists if they were actually good defensively. But the way Carter's playing, he's arguably the Pens' worst defensive center. Heck, if it weren't for Jake Carter's probably our worst defensive forward, period.

"Hey Jeff we want to resign you and play you in a heavily deployed defensive role. That cool?"

JC: Nah I'm just gonna do my own thing on the ice regardless.

"You're hired! Here's an extra year to help with your upcoming colonoscopy exams. Remember colon health is important when you get to 40 Jeff!"

You can point to us in 2016 pretty easily as well, since that was actually Sully making the calls. HBK was feasting on bottom pairings and bottom-6’s, not second lines.

L2 is suprisingly good on forecheck, they really creating out of chaos and rely on these contested quick passes and shots, this almost looks unatural for Geno's line, but thats what they are now

The 3rd line was worse without Carter. They did nothing at all. He's got 7 points in 10 games.
Even in this period they got a good look from McGinn going for top corner.

He's at 63% D-zone starts, so we should all expect poor corsi and xGF moving forward.

And just to balance out the negativity, I'll say that overall we're playing solid and not giving up a tonne of chances other than on the PP. This game is winnable because Toronto's not exactly playing great. But the Pens need to stop being too fancy and just take the shots available to them instead of this constant holding onto the puck because the ONLY play available is a shot on net.

Dumoulin leads the team in blocked shots. if we replace him who will block the shots?. You have to think of the shots. You can’t just call out players who suck shit at hockey. You have to play them all year
