The level of cuddling and excuses this board gives this kid is unreal. He’s been nothing short of average since his rookie year and has been mediocre since getting what looks to be an albatros of a deal if he continues to play without a care in the world.

Hughes and his BFF have been nothing short of atrocious this year.

That kind of play from Hughes is the kind of play that should get you benched for a bit. I'm beyond the coddling stage with him at this point. Send him a message. He's now one of the highest paid players on the team. Time to start playing like it.

Thats exactle the type of play I'd be fine with new coach benching him for. He'd learn and come back stronger and better. He has couple plays pretty much every match that he tries to do too much instead of a simple play, they just dont result in goals against all the time.

If Fitz takes a bullet, I hope the new GM re-hires Melanson to try and get Blackwood going like how Shero hired him to try and get Cory going. There's a greater chance of it actually helping resurrect Blackwood, as he's quite a bit younger than Schneider was and doesn't have a chronic injury (that we know of) yet.

It's almost a guarantee at this point that Ruff is gone by about January 13th-15th.

The only way he's still here by then is if the league is shut down (I don't think it will be).

The only other way I can see him still here is if we go on a surprising winning streak to get back to hovering around NHL 500.

He's toast.

Jack Hughes can’t even scratch the tiny ball hairs of Kovy. As far as pedigree goes, they don’t make ‘em like they use to. First overalls use to come into the league and crush it, the Devils have been shit out of luck in that department.

I initially said about 2 weeks ago that if we're 5-6 games below NHL 500 in early January, he's likely gone and an interim comes in to replace him. Likely someone from the staff.

If we lose tonight in regulation, we'll already be 5 games under NHL 500. Even before the f***ing 20th of December.
