Shots are only 6-3, on pace for 18-9.

Penguins are "boring trap", "ruining hockey" based on the standard we were held to.

Jack Hughes can’t even scratch the tiny ball hairs of Kovy. As far as pedigree goes, they don’t make ‘em like they use to. First overalls use to come into the league and crush it, the Devils have been shit out of luck in that department.

Could be that or it could be that our Organization can't properly develop players worth sh*t these days.

I initially said about 2 weeks ago that if we're 5-6 games below NHL 500 in early January, he's likely gone and an interim comes in to replace him. Likely someone from the staff.

If we lose tonight in regulation, we'll already be 5 games under NHL 500. Even before the f***ing 20th of December.
I think not being able to put the entire team on the ice is what might be saving them right now.

Oh I know. Kovy was the most talented forward we've ever had, and I don't say that lightly considering Patty.

I'd take broken back Kovy on this team in a heartbeat. He'd be our best player by a mile.

Holy crap Gillies is huge, never seen pads that tall ever.

I wonder how Serge would coach...
We might find out soon enough, if Dineen is called up here and he's promoted to interim for Utica.

Unless they bring Dennehy back, since he's still employed by the organization in some kind of role, but just didn't wanna coach anymore.

Its a tough spot, you don't want to get ripped off in a panic trade and im sure the market is non existent right now due to covid.

You can boot the coaching staff pretty easily at least. It's not like you are losing anything irreplaceable.

Kovalchuk was drafted into a far worse organization than even this shit pile we have in NJ. The difference is he was a gamer and came into the league as a man child. He could score from anywhere and was one of the most athletic players in the league. Jack Hughes does not even look like an athlete lol

I truly think he's gone once the xmas break hits or the league shuts down, whichever happens first
I'm not saying I don't think there's a decent chance, you could certainly be dead on, but I feel like he's getting a stay of execution for both covid absences and the non-covid illnesses that are either out of the lineup or in the lineup and not playing at 100%.

And maybe you're right. Maybe GM's and people in management don't think the way we assume they think with the ''Give him some time to work on it, he's missing some key pieces''. They could be very well be thinking what some of us are thinking with the ''Well, we've been sliding LONG before the covic absences and the bug hit the locker room. Time to put him out of his misery''.

... and he learned how to play hockey under Lemaire and had stability all around him - so it didn't have to be his show all of the time.

The problem with Jack right now is its his show, and sooner or later he'll have 64million reasons piled on his back and there's just nothing but crap around him. Kovy was exactly the same flavor of giveaway machine you just saw when on the ATL.
