fair point.. but still need to see more upstairs from him.. i do think he wants to do too much and that is part of problem and that will go away with experience but need to start seeing it

I honestly don’t even understand what this means. Making sloppy passes right to the opponent and trying to dangle through them unsuccessfully does not show me he has “vision”.

I was mostly talking about jis play in the o-zone. His defensive play is definitely sloppy and needs work. He’s trying to do too much in zone exists, just make the simple play.

mercer plays with more poise... its a little concerning to me that hughes plays like he does.... too much taylor hall in his game for my liking

Taylor Hall? No Taylor was never that sloppy.

To me it’s more like kovalchuk…except Kovy could actually pull off those risky passes and dangles much more frequently. And of course was a proven point per game player.

I swear to god, all 3 of Bernier, Blackwood and now Gillies play these shorthanded chances the same way. Schmid played them slightly differently. He got beat on one 5-hole when he wasn't sliding like Gillies was on this one and he was up on his feet too.

Gillies hasn't been here long enough to be infected by this BUM goalie coach, but it's almost like the goalie tells them to just stay in there, don't panic and see what you could do.

At the very least, if whoever controls the power play isn't gonna fix the problems that cause all these short handed opportunities, the goalie coach needs to tell the goalies ''Look, you're gonna be facing at least two shorthanded chances every game, assuming our team gets at least 3 power plays. So try to be mindful of that and play a little more aggressively and be ready for it''.

f*** this goalie coach as much as anybody on the staff.
