Matt Murray and Tristan Jarry both ended up being spectacularly bad after promising starts (especially Murray). Who would have thought in 2017 that the best course of action would have been to just keep Fleury. Probably could have gotten a kings ransom for Murray at the time too.
Calgary offered the 6th pick in the 2016 draft, which became Matthew Tkachuk.

Someone mentioned the Jarry signing thread a few pages ago. I read a few pages. Yep. The crazy people are still the crazy people.
Same just read it. There were a few defenders but vast majority here knew it was a godawful deal the minute it was signed. But boy wonder and Sullivan apparently knew better. Somehow it's turned out even worse than expected.

I think the difficulty with the Jarry signing is that it's impossible to evaluate it without the context of how terrible free agency and the trade market ended up being that year. Jarry and his agent had the leverage.

Like many things with the team...

...there wasn't a better way to do things, but damn, we got the short end of every decision going on like 5 years

At some point this idiot coach is going to realize that Jesse is a really smart player. I don’t know if we have anyone better at creating space than him right now.

It really is not. As I said at the time, you do not anchor yourself to a mediocre goalie like Jarry because the market for the position has temporarily dried up. That's such a stupid, short-sighted decision that of course Kyle Dubas made it. Bring in 2 meh goalies like we got with Ned and a guy like Martin Jones and platoon them until a better option becomes available.

It was a horrible decision then and it still is today.
