Jake might've stayed. But as his and his agents' actions showed, he wasn't signing anywhere for less than top dollar.

Interesting way of saying Jake wanted market value.

The extent people go to vilify him is crazy. Dubas didn’t want to pay him. That’s how I would frame it.

Seemed like Hayes had a good game. That assist by Tomasito was nice. 39 point pace?

I'm not vilifying anyone. Jake earned every penny, especially after taking less than market value on his last deal.

Beau and Gryz might bring back mid-to-late round picks, but Hayes has another year on his deal, so he's not going anywhere. Getting out of his deal for free would be a small victory, let alone getting anything back for him.
 
It's obvious now - Rakell was the problem all along. ;)

Seriously, the team is such a tease. Every time they seem down and out they pull off a win like that and make you feel hope again. But when the chips are down, they crumble. It's almost like they are mentally fragile and badly coached or something.

Nice effort by everyone, obviously. Kind of funny how Malkin played with Tomasino for less than a minute and scored, while Glass played with Hayes for less than half a minute and scored as well. That second line has 1 (yes, one) goal to its credit in total. It's not getting scored on much either, to be sure, but there doesn't seem to be any chemistry there. Don't get me wrong, Malkin would be struggling often regardless of his linemates because he is old but the insistence of sticking with a line that can't score to save its life is silly.

I mean, this kind of unevenness is really just shooting ourselves in the foot. We're going to be too good to pick early enough for the kind of prospects we need, and we're going to be juuuuuuust short of the postseason.

That sick pass from Tomasino to Malkin is exactly why you hold onto him and play him in the top-6. Sell high on either Rakell or Bunting and keep Tomasino on L2, then sell Tomasino when he settles into a 20 goal, 50 point winger. I think you'd get a great return if he becomes that by 25.

The coach refuses to play Tomasino with Geno and Glass with Hayes because…why? He doesn’t like Tomasino’s play on the boards…seriously, his words…we lack talent in the top six and he has that response…you cannot make this up, and that’s why the coach is a moron and must go! lol…

Sweet pass by Tomasino on the Geno goal… Sullivan was asked about Tomasino during yesterday’s scrum., and you can tell he still doesn't love his play away from the puck.

Now, I'm not the top 2-3 coach in the league, but I don't see any major deficiencies in Phil's play away from the puck. I see a guy that hustles every shift and is skilled. Something we need more of in the lineup!
