That's pretty much where I'm at now with not only Jarry but the Pens as a whole.

I don't want to hear "we did some good things but....". Win a game. Win multiple games. That's what you're here for. There are no moral victories.

Or actually don't because tbh we could reallllly use Sullivan getting fired as well as a top 5 pick lol
The thing about this is its easy to say ok well Jarry was shit - That is the easiest thing to say about any game Jarry starts in these days. It's true. Nedeljkovic has also been a shit show like Jarry though, I would rather go with Blomqvist/Larsson.

But when a goalie bails out a turnover, it's "we're lucky X bailed us out in net." - Right?
OR if we see Letang clear the crease of a shot that somehow sneaks through in traffic and is inching towards the goal line we say "What a great goal line clear by Kris Letang!" - Right?

So in this instance, two things are true - Jarry let in 2 goals he should have had.
Also true - the two bad goals Jarry let in, were also plays created because of lazy defensive plays that led to those chances in the first place and sadly enough, if they play some actual defense, they don't leave it in the hands of a shaky as f*** goalie, which they ended up doing and what happened was what we all figured would, a collapse and Jarry allowing bad goals.

You have a goalie that is an absolute dumpster fire 99% of the time he plays, the way they decide to play in front of him is be out shot 25-10 in the 2nd, 3rd, and OT. At that point, you basically just want to lose the game by letting the other team see a goalie that's pretty awful (even if he had a .914sv% which is good for his stats to trade him I guess). That to me is the problem. Usually this team played tighter in front of Ned and looser in front of Jarry. This year, Blomqvist and Jarry faced a ton of shots, Ned faced fewer and neither goalie is allowing less than 3 goals per game, now they don't play either way, they play neither loose defense or tighter defense, they just don't play any defense (although they still seem to play tighter in front of Ned and still blow leads, you'd need prime Hasek to bail these idiots out with the awful coaching they get).

The bigger issue here is that neither goalie is allowing less than 3 goals a game. I don't give two f***s what dumb shit narrative some of the idiots here want to make it out to be - 100% of us here agree Jarry needs to be traded. I am in the boat that wants Jarry and Ned both gone and play Blomqvist and Larsson, whichever one is the back-up is inconsequential at this stage. But the bigger issue has been zero defensive structure. They play absolute crap defensively and Crosby has been one of the most guilty forwards of it on this team and if your leader that was known for being a reliable 200ft player is playing like dog shit, that's 100% coaching right there because what Sid is doing, the defense is doing as a unit and the overall team Defense is doing consistently - being dog shit in their own end.

Does it matter who's in net anymore? Absolutely not unless someone wants to just bitch about a name to feel better about themselves, because Ned was allowing 3+, Blom was allowing 3+, Jarry in his last 2 starts has allowed 4.5.

Saves per 60 - Blomqvist led the entire league.
Jarry oddly enough is for 3rd with Dostal at 34.5
Nedeljkovic is ranked 46th with 27.7 saves per 60.

Jarry has been moist ass but still somehow is better at saving high danger shots, could this team win more games if they allowed as few shots against Blom or a dumpster fire in Jarry like they do Ned? Ned has also been one of the worst goalies for the Pens this season, I think by comparison to how awful Jarry has been, Ned looks better but really when you dig into his metrics, not by much. For how few shots he faces, he needs to be better and hasn't been. But again, it falls to how f***ing awful the defense is, why do they somehow play a better structure in front of Ned who blows leads as well, but then couldn't for the other two? What kind of shit game planning is that?

This is a team that desperately needs a new coach, the system is so crap and when it does do "something" there's still a ton of issues.

This is in no defense to Jarry, Ned, or Blomqvist. This is a criticism of how f***ing shitty this team is coached.

At this point they might as well call up Larsson and see if they can allow around 30 shots or less like they do for Ned and if he can somehow play some Vezina level of goaltending to win games, because only Blomqvist could and even he started to break behind this defense.

Edit:

Penguins allow 32.9 Shots against per game. Ranked 30th. So with Ned, they allow fewer shots - 27.7 shots per 60 is 9th in the league, still lose.
37th is worse than Anaheim - Dead last
34.5 is worse than Anaheim

I couldn't give less f***s what he has to say anymore if I tried. He just says the same shit as Yohe and Rossi these days, oddly enough, Rossi has been the least annoying one which is f***ing bizarre right now. Sullivan is shit and these f***ing tossers just ignore it and do the usual blame players shtick and even then, they won't blame all of the players that should be blamed.

How many times have they blown a multiple goal lead in the third period this season? Feels like this has happened at least ten times.
From what I can remember just blown leads there were maybe 4 where they led 2-0, the blown leads in the 3rd is I think 2. Off the top of my head. I did look it up while typing this, the stats are below:

Total Blown leads is 8 out of 21 games, 3 in the 3rd period that led to losses.

Blown 3rd period leads
  1. Flames loss in OT-Shootouts - Nedeljkovic in net - 22 saves (4-3 loss)
  2. Isles loss in OT-Shootouts - Nedeljkovic in net - 23 saves (4-3 loss)
  3. Tampa loss in OT - Jarry in net - 33 saves (3-2 loss)

Then the other 5 games...
  1. Leafs - 4-2 - Blom 29 saves
  2. Canes - 4-1 - Blom 34 saves
  3. Jets - 6-3 - Ned 31 saves
  4. Nucks - 4-3 - Ned 30 saves
  5. Wild - 5-3 - Blom 35 saves
So those account for 0-5-3.
There's the other 7-5-1 that's missing in this.
Wings loss in OT
6-2 loss vs Jackets
7-1 loss vs Stars
5-1 loss vs Canes
6-0 loss to Rangers
4-0 loss to Oilers

Wins against - Buffalo, Detroit, Ducks, Habs x2, Sharks, Caps - Only 4 of those are RW (6 ROW).

The Pens have a record of 7-10-4.

I just don't want this to be a focus on another player, it's usually Karlsson or Letang or Pettersson or Grzelcyk or Jarry, and in most cases sure they play awful in games, but the team loses as a unit, to make this game about Jarry as a scapegoat is bs and takes away from the single biggest issue on this team - Sullivan. Sure Jarry was trash on 2 goals, but how the Pens were out played in the 2nd and 3rd as well as OT and out shot that poorly in the final 45mins...another blown lead, another game with shitty defense - that's been on going in front of either goalie.

This focus needs to be on Sullivan, I don't give a shit about Jarry or Ned or Karlsson...

This team plays such a piss poor structure, it doesn't even matter who the f*** is in it.

The goalie that is 1-2-1 that is struggling?
The other one that is 3-3-3 that gets the least shots and still sucks?
The rookie that was getting shelled at a rate that no other goalie was getting in the league and was 3-5-0?

It quite literally didn't f***ing matter who was in net, in 8 games they blew leads, 3x in the 3rd period, 5 times at various points in the game, overall have been so badly outscored by playoff caliber teams its laughable to even put down the stat, they've been out played most of the time, have no idea how to play team defense and the coach is still using the roster like shit, managing minutes like shit, and giving the wrong players assignments they don't deserve because they're his pets.

Do we have any???
Literally none.

Those of us that want him to play well is because it'd make him easier to trade without giving up more. Idiots seem to be confusing this as wanting Jarry to stay or he's "our boy" even if you want to see him do well to get traded and well after being traded because we're not pieces of shit. But gone nonetheless - 100%. It's too bad the compliance buyouts are gone, because Graves or Jarry being used for compliance buyouts would be great, easier if you move one of them and then use the compliance buyout. Jarry has less years, Graves has more.

Graves base is 7.75m after this - longer penalty
Jarry's is 7.175m - shorter penalty

A lot of signing bonuses. Stuck with both.

“It just feels like the same crap all over again, you know? It’s frustrating,” Marcus Pettersson said. “We got to be a little bit more confident when we have the lead. We need to defend hard.”

Sid doesn't deserve to go to the Avs after this season's performance.
When Geno was playing poorly last season, there were talks of trading him or that he was done, etc. But not even Malkin as bad as Sid is this year, yet the narrative is still to blame anyone else but Sid.

I remember shit like this and it's still comical AF...

It’s time to have a real conversation about Malkin.

He has 10 points in his last 15 games. Only once in his past 15 games has Malkin produced a multiple-point game.

I realize he isn’t exactly blessed with great linemates right now. He doesn’t get to play with Jake Guentzel like Crosby does. I get it.

But watching Malkin play is getting pretty painful. He had the puck at the blue line with 30 seconds remaining in the third period when the goaltender was pulled, and he held onto the puck for almost 10 seconds. He didn’t know what to do. It was a rough game for him, one of the worst I recall him playing.

I was struck by how unthreatening Malkin looked all night. He’s an all-time great and I respect him immensely as a player and as a person. But he has never looked as old as he did in this game. He’s hardly the Penguins’ only problem, but he might be their biggest. Oh, he’s better than many players on this team, sure. But they’re designed to win with Malkin playing at a certain level. He’s no longer at that level. We will see little bursts from him, and he’ll still put up occasional numbers because he’s a first-ballot Hall of Famer, and such talent doesn’t evaporate overnight.

But his decline is getting difficult to ignore.
Lol right...

But none of that shit for Sid apparently. There was a ton of criticism towards Geno starting in late December into late January and even into mid February. IF you look at that span, Dec 24-Feb 24 is 22 games:

Geno in that span where he was being questioned as too old, needs to change his game, called out for his game even by Sully...

Also, lol at Yohe...

• I don’t know this for a fact, but I would guess it was Cirelli’s goal that had Sullivan so furious following the game.

Sure, it was badly misplayed in net by Jarry, who basically deflected a shot past himself.

But the defensive effort on the play from Noel Acciari and Erik Karlsson wasn’t very good, as Brandon Hagel was left all alone in front of the goaltender.

This kind of thing happens every game. It never stops. This is a terrible defensive team.

Pettersson was also at fault on that goal, Karlsson starts to go after Cirelli but stops and Pettersson does the same and pivots back to Hagel who Acciari comes to with a half assed effort. That's 3 players, but Yohe is gonna pick at Karls any chance he gets.

At the risk of simplifying things, the Penguins looked good in the first two periods and scarcely allowed any odd-man rushes. What do you know?

I don’t understand why this team can’t eliminate the risk-taking in its game. Blame the coaches. Blame the players. All parties receive criticism.

Then the Penguins play low-risk hockey, they’re still a functional, decent team. But they’re rarely able to help themselves.

• Crosby made a pretty pass to set up Rakell’s goal but was held without a goal, leaving him with 599 for his career.
They got out shot 12-6 in the 2nd...

He doesn't mention Grzelcyk's bone headed defensive play nor does he mention Crosby's. Typical. Why call out the one goal and then ignore the shit show on the other 2?

Crosby isn't going anywhere, he'll retire a Penguin
It's a joke, to play off the shit we heard about Geno when he wasn't even struggling nearly as much as Sid has been.

Don't be so sure, that doesn't help him nor the team. Of course if he doesn't play better and considering his age and contract, there won't be much demand. He needs to wake the hell up!

It’s predictable now. I went to bed at the 2nd intermission knowing it was go long to happen. It’s crazy at this point.

Break up the country club and fire Sully.

Yep. I turned it on right as they went into the third up 2-0. As soon as I saw the score I said "oh no".

And putting all the blame on Jarry is kind of like singling out the 11th clown in the car full of 21.

It's just bonkers to think the Bruins fired a coach that had a winning percentage at .715% and they felt his lack of playoff success in 2 full seasons where they were out in the 1st round in one of them and last season out in the 2nd round, was enough to fire him early this year. Sweeney didn't help him much and he still had them playing very well and this season they're a wild card team while he didn't replace a lot of the depth they lost and he got canned? Lol

Meanwhile FSG to Sullivan - "f*** it up son, we ride or die in the Sully business."

Detroit is probably going to fire Lalonde soon, hire Montgomery and then suddenly go on a tear.

Montgomery could be hired by the Pens tomorrow after firing Sullivan and turn this team right around and FSG still wouldn't do it.

PS - This is the kind of shit Sullivan can't explain even a tiny bit because he's a f***ing twat that doesn't understand the game even at half the level Monty does.

My boy? I can't stand Jarry. He's worthless and weak!
Ýou sit in your room all day playing that, that, that, electric twanger! What do you want to do with your life? :)

So yeah yeah we played well last night and lost. This might not be the only reason we lost, but this could be part of the explanation:

Noel Acciari - 16:17 TOI
Matt Nieto - 15:02 TOI

Jesse Puljujarvi - 10:13 TOI
Sam Poulin - 9:49 TOI

Mike Sullivan forces us to hate fourth liners because in his eyes they are not fourth liners. They are him, only younger. This has ALWAYS been the issue with this head coach.

The game turned when we stopped rolling the lines and HE decided they had to protect the lead with his guys.

Dubas must see this. But those FSG suits have no idea what we are saying, so nothing is going to change.

Jarry played his best game in forever, despite the own goal that basically was the turning point. Can we trade his ass, now? He is clearly our third-best option in goal.

He might be somebody else's second-best, though? Maybe.

Those last two goals... are we sure that Jarry isn't taking lessons from MAF? :)

Can't even tank properly, can't hold a lead, can't play even 30 minutes of good hockey at a time. We are the Pittsburgh Cants.

Worst part was when MP blocked a shot and looked to be injured. Luckily he came back? Think ue missed 1 shift but that was close to the end of the period.

We need to cash in on the trade ASAP before he gets injured for real.

At this point, it's just sad. Insanity is more accurate. Unlike everyone else, I actually think this team could make the playoffs and be scary with a good coach. I think Sid and Malkin are still play drivers and we have more help around them overall than when they were younger. I think it's 100% coaching, not personnel available.

+Ryan Shea looks good overall. He's good with the puck, patient, makes good passes. I think he's our best defenseman overall as sad as that is. Not because of last night. Everything I've seen from him since last year. I bet if we had 6 Shea's we would be a much better team. What do people NOT like about him?

+Pulju has looked good all year. What are the coaches talking about in between games where he's getting so little love from them? Dubas should resign him. He should go elsewhere...

+POP ? Good line for the most part?

+Geno has been a very good player all year. I feel like he's a bit frustrated, though, in recent games.

-Sid has not been a very good player all year. Seems to be floating too much, not engaged. He is not driving the play on his line like Malkin has, IMO.

-Sullivan - how laughable... he plays his worst players the most and has the most porous defenseman play the most and wonders why we lose leads? It's amazing the change in his philosophy from his first two years to now. Unrecognizable.

-Defenseman are making so many bad decisions and getting beat again and again... you'd think we'd see adjustments/change game to game on these decisions, but they keep repeating.

-Karlsson I don't remember him being this porous and horrible at defense when he was with Ottawa... wow he's bad at defense right now.

Bravo to you guys for trying to find things to analyze or pick apart after the millionth time this exact same game has played out over the past three or so seasons.

It's just funny anymore. You just laugh, shrug, and that's that. The team knows it's shit. The players know the team's shit. They're just too stupid, too cowardly, and too arrogant to admit it, and begin the process of building back up to not being shit anymore. That's probably not gonna really start until Sid gets his final Olympics--or if he has a change of heart and asks to be traded.

But you just gotta laugh at these collapses. It's hilarious. The ineptitude and failure to change, adapt, evolve, or anything like that, coupled with the team's steadfast refusal to act, is f***ing hilarious in a sad way.

-edit- Honestly, I'm more annoyed that they keep getting these loser points than anything else that's been happening. Just f***ing lose in regulation, you dweebs. They can't even f***ing lose correctly.
