Puustinen sucks anyway so I think it’s an easy decision to replace him with Tomasino.

They just shouldn’t be making the swap that easy. Get creative and do something like:

Beauvillier-Crosby-Rakell
Tomasino-Malkin-Puljujarvi
Bunting-O’Connor-Rust
Tomasino sucks as well and he got a lot more ice time and opportunity in Nashville. He's also slower and worse defensively but yeah cool beans bro.

Rakell-Sid-Rust
Bunting-Malkin-Tomasino
Puljujarvi-DOC-Beauvillier
Hayes-Acciari-Nieto

Given who is on the roster. I imagine they will lip Tomasino and Beau though.

from his draft year
gets his share of pucks with good pursuit speed. Has good quickness and light edging that that makes him a good on the forecheck. Displays a quick snap shot, good hands in small spaces and good stick control on his backhand. His good foot speed and high IQ with excellent hands and the ability to score. Needs to work on his away-from-the-puck game, needs to add muscle.
could be a good complementary player imo

It's kind of a bummer overall that we've reached this special level of pessimism where they make a pretty decent trade with fair potential to be a solid W and no one gives a shit because we know how it will likely result.
Well for one this isn't a player that was working hard and just lost in the shuffle. He's got documented work ethic issues on and off the ice that has been mentioned by two coaches. His work away from the puck is awful, he isn't good defensively and his skating isn't great so he's a limited player for where you can use him.

It seems stupid to move a 4th for this kind of player over calling up someone from WBS or just using what they have better. Tomasino will have that new team jolt and go back to disappearing a lot like did in Nashville.

I know some Pens fans had some weird hard on for him though which was funny, because he sucks.

Even if this kid's a bust, who cares? Smart move to make imo. Zero risk, decent reward. It was the Ruhwedel 4th iirc, so it's a literal nothing asset, multiple years down the line. /shrug

Preds fans seem pretty disappointed glancing at their board. Consensus seems to be that he's no world beater but if things pan out, he's a decent middle-6 winger with some skill who doesn't shy away from the tough areas of the ice. Even if he's only like a 30pt guy, that's a huge win for a 4th rounder imo.

Now, whether Sullivan plays him in an elevated role or gives him the leash needed to learn on the fly and develop? That's the issue imo. Probably gonna need Sid taking a liking to him in order to have a chance at any success here.

Yes sure. But This lineup will 100% never happen under Mike Sullivan.

You need to dump Beauvillier and/or Bunting to actually get the Tomasino usage you guys are dreaming of.

Good move by Dubas, credit where it's due. We'd be lucky if a 4th ever turned into a Tomasino. Now up to Sullivan to give him a decent chance

Philip Tomasino News: Lacking playing time

Written by RotoWire Staff
Published on November 2, 2024
Tomasino was a healthy scratch for the sixth game in a row when he sat out Saturday's 5-2 win over the Avalanche.
Tomasino began the campaign in a bottom-six role, but he appears to have been leapfrogged by Zachary L'Heureux. In his four appearances, Tomasino has just five shots on net, two hits and a minus-2 rating while averaging 9:27 of ice time. He'll likely get another look eventually, but his 32-point rookie campaign from 2021-22 is starting to look more and more like an anomaly.

It's been a running theme for him for a few seasons.

This was after 2023

This is after 2024, last season

I get the sense you lot don't see a lot of Western games?

Is Puustinen hurt or they healthy scratch him all the time?
Apparently he sucks because he can't produce in 8mins of ice time on the 4th line, according to monumental tards.

He should be waived so he can go to another team or wbs. But weird that a player that supposedly sucks isn't waived yet, why would they be afraid to lose a player that sucks on waivers?

The Puustinen apologist act is so funny at this point. Guy f***ing BLOWS.
Everyone blows right now. Our roster is atrocious. Still doesn't mean we should be playing veteran plugs like Acciari/Nieto over young guys who are still developing and actually need the time up with the big club. (8 minutes on the 4th line doesn't count.)

I don't think anyone is crying over Puustinen, we're all just upset with this rebuild limbo nonsense, and the HC's propensity for PKers who can "play the right way"

Guy has been with the team for 2 hours but has past issues: Dude sucks!

Goalie has been with the team 9 years, has a multitude of issues that haven't gotten better, and seems to be trending even further in the wrong direction:
If you would direct yourself to document 2382.c on high danger saves when the goalie is being screened at home during weekend games against Western Conference opponents...

Nah mate, let these dumb :eek::eek::eek::eek: cry some more. They bitch about Sullivan sucking but then talk like a Sullivan boot licker. It's funny as hell.

Why even bother keeping Puustinen? They barely play him. It's more odd he's still there at this point when Sullivan's usage shows he doesn't want him around. I'm shocked Poulin got as many games as he did too.

And Bunting and Acciari while we're at it. Glass and his 2.5 million can go too.

Oh wait I forgot, we will have to pay out of our ass to move these absolutely brilliant Dubas additions.
Except, ya know, probably not.

The only players on the roster that have negative or very low value right now, is Graves and Jarry. No one else would require payment to move, primarily because Dubas just wouldn't.

110% agreed. As much on the “play the f***ing kids, what possible reason do we have not to” train as anyone. But, there’s clearly at least one angry little man in here crying over Puustinen getting pushed further down by Tomasino.
