Tomosino is a preview for what Dubas is going to get at the deadline. Players who excelled in the past like Pettersson and playing poorly this season due to the team/coach, getting traded for 2 3rd round picks.

Yeah, don't get me wrong. This team's dogshit. Ownership's a buncha aloof buffoons. Dubas is a dweeb. Sullivan's a miserable f*** with an ego to rival Jagr's. The way things are going, this team's got me resenting Crosby re-signing. That's how ratf***ed it all is.

But god dammit, I gotta pretend there's a chance Sullivan's canned after missing three times in a row and not winning a playoff round in nearly a decade. I'm skeptical it actually happens, but for the first time I feel like we're at "there's literally no excuse anymore" territory. Not that there has been for years, but folks are speaking up and talking about Sully's job security for the first time ever, and that might mean the facade is starting to crack and crumble.

Buddy this is the Sullivan era Pittsburgh Penguins. And the NHL in general.

There are ALWAYS excuses.

Here... got one for ya right off the top of my head, already - "Mike didn't get the goaltending he needed this year and the core is past it. Besides what's the point in changing coaches NOW? You might as well stick with the guy that is respected and established instead of taking a chance on a *gasp* STRANGER!"

Liverpool is in first place in the Premier League this season. Boston Red Sox are the parent company. The Penguins are a very distant third.

FSG is probably elated about the first team, very much involved in getting the parent team back on track, and probably just shrug their shoulders about the Pens. Oh well, can't win them all.

This is the MASSIVE disadvantage of being owned by a major conglomerate sports group.

Everybody in that building, and maybe even Dubas, thinks that Sullivan is like Montgomery. The minute you fire him, the minute somebody else jumps on him.

Man, dare to dream!

Also with the Yohe article yesterday, I kinda caught a "between the lines" thing. He said FSG's not interested in paying two coaches for two years. I took that to mean that Sully might still be owed the money from his contract even if he signs elsewhere.

Cool, fire the Boston boys and insert the AHL coach. Tell the AHL coach that we can't pay you more money right now, but we will pay it forward even if you don't get the permanent gig.

There are ways around these coaching issues if you really wanted to create change.

They have no interest, so everything else is just a pile of excuses.

I don’t why people still care about Poulin either. We’ve all seen him play, and he sucks.
We've yet to see him in an actual decent role. Not many players are going to make a great impression when they're given 8 minutes per night on the 4th line. Especially when it's only in 1 or 2 game spurts, not even a consistent stretch of games.

Look at DOC. He looked like shit for much of his early career until he was given a more prominent role. Suddenly he looks like a decent middle six forward.

Maybe Poulin does suck. But it would be nice to see if that's the case after actual decent usage rather than having to draw that conclusion after every one of his 2-3 game trials on the 4th line before his inevitable demotion.

So you’re not actually watching him play?

Yes, he’s a piece. One that’s better than the majority of our bottom 6.

Being better than the likes of Noel Acciari and Matt Nieto isn't saying much.

He's bad. If this team had competent depth he would have been waived and stashed in WBS at this point.

You're assuming Yohe is even aware that a coach's salary is off the books if he signs with a new team. You're giving Yohe way too much credit here.

It's all bullshit anyway. Sully's owed, what, like $15M? That's quite literally a drop in an ocean when it comes to FSG's collective net worth. It wouldn't even amount to you or I buying a 5 cent piece of candy at the register.

It's just another excuse.

lolol super cool having a "rich" ownership group that suddenly counts pennies the moment their boy's job is threatened.

"Well we can't do THAT... that's nearly 10M dollars we'd have to eat!"

"Sir didn't you just buy a space yacht made out of pure platinum encrusted with diamonds?"

"...WTF is your point?"

I still think Sullivan's a dead man walking at coach. Maybe it's me huffing an entire hot air balloon's worth of copium but man, we're almost a decade into this. I gotta have some kinda hope.
Man, I can appreciate the optimism but I really think you're setting yourself up for disappointment. I'd be shocked if Sullivan doesn't make it to his 10th anniversary next November. Get ready to watch a disgusting ceremony for him before some game

Just have to get through this Sullivan era.... Once he's gone, the natural ebb and flow of coaches and players coming in and out should be more palatable.... Just hope it's at the latest the end of the season, but I'd prefer sooner, like as soon as I hit "post reply"

Then trade those guys for Tomasino types, instead of draft picks. There is no point in keeping a player like Puustinen eating nachos in the press box.

Absolutely!! Or use them as sweeteners in trades with guys like Karlsson, Graves if possible, Jarry, you know, the trades that are going to be difficult to make.

I honestly think Ottawa is going to take Karlsson and it's not going to hurt us a lot... I don't think retention will happen, but a contract or two will come back

I volunteer as a tribute to coach the team for free. You can even chant "Fi-re Some-Dude" and I'll clap along. Anything to move on from the Sullivan era.

So FSG gave him a contract that f***s them and now when they need to really fire his ass they'll just let the team keep turning to shit because a billion dollar entity can't absorb a mistake?

Lol. f***ing losers.

I like Jarry, I'm not a huge defender, however tactically he needs to play better in order for a trade that's not a complete detrimental loss. He needs sheltered games though.... But I'm not sure there are many of those left for us anymore haha.
