I don't have any idea what you are talking about, sir. I was referring to Kap's preference for oversized hats and how it could possibly obstruct sightlines when strolling about town.

That might have been the only negotiation Dubas
has ever won. Leafs were above the cap, everyone knew they needed rid of Kap and JR still gave up a 1st.

Lord, please let that old man zero in on Petts now.

Too bad the 1st round pick died, he didn't sign Rodrigues for bizarre reasons, and then Hallander came back.

Remember how many people were like losing our best prospect in Hallander is absolutely insane! And then we got him back and the argument was "we lost McCann for only Hallander".

Kinda speaks to HFPens judgement on most things.

I can’t fault them for selecting him in round one to begin with because of players selected there don’t pan out, and our scouts have been god awful…but there’s no excuse for JR losing that trade to Dubas lol…

Meh. I'll always roll my eyes at "bloodline" picks at least a little.

Remember when Kapanen shot like fifty percent after being traded and people were trying to say he was actually good

95% of people thought JR overpaid for Kapanen. ERod hadn't broken out yet, Warsofsky was a #8D, and Hallander was one of our better prospects. People were pissed about the 15ov going out.

100% of people were pissed about Hextall paying McCann for Hallander.

Those two are not even remotely relatable.

Not sure how they are not relatable.

People were pissed we lost a top prospect and then we got him back and people were pissed he was all we got.

Are you saying McCann for Hallander was a solid, good value trade for us?

McCann is a nobody who is doing what Granlund is doing on the Sharks.

But, my overall point was people freaked out about Hallander as a value add in the Kapanen trade and he was a nobody then and a nobody when he was returned to us.

Very similar to the logic people put into the Guentzel trade about Koivunen and Pono being these "B+ prospects". They are also largely nobodies.

I had a weekend thought, for all those people that want the Penguins to tank for a high draft pick.

Why? Say they do tank and get 1-5 pick. That pick, with Sullivan still here, won't see the NHL until at least year 3. And only if there is an injury to someone.

People are under the very mistaken impression that if the pick is high enough even this team can't screw it up.
