Eller is my sleeper candidate to get a surprisingly good return at the deadline. Centres are always in demand, he's playing well this year, a proven winner, and most importantly on a very affordable cap hit with no trade protection.

Teams like Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Vancouver are always struggling with available players having them on no trade lists.
Eller had value last season, but Mikey boy loves him so much he told Dubas to tell the media that Eller had no value. That nobody wanted him.

That is my story and I am sticking to it. Lars Eller has always had value. We are not stupid.

That was my thought process. Atleast then Sid would have a winger who has offensive talent.

Fiala doesn't know what defense means though.
Oh good, he'd right in and there'd be no loss!
We moved Teddy Blueger for a 3rd a couple years ago.

Lars Eller is better than TB.
Agreed. His age by handicap the return but hell, even Henrique and Carrick got a 1st and 4th from Edmonton. Maybe Eller+Acciari/Nieto/Beau/etc would get a 1st from them or someone?

Eh, Eller is pretty old, and teams tend to like to trade for players with expiring contracts at the TDL.

I wouldn't be surprised if Eller has more value now that he's a rental than he did with the extra year attached. Teams are paranoid about cap flexibility.

It's weird I'm going through our UFAs now in my head and trying to picture their value and I feel like we have a number of guys that I almost want to say could get a second rounder but I'm probably just overrating their value out of misguided optimism.

That was the exact deal that makes me think Eller could be a sneaky high value trade chip. Henrique has been more productive offensively, but not by so much that the comparison is crazy.

Keeping tabs on how the season's going compared to the previous two through 20 games;

2022-23: 10-7-3, 72 GF, 65 GA
2023-24: 10-10-0, 61 GF, 52 GA
2024-25: 3-7-1, 33 GF, 48 GA thus far

 Man that goals against number makes me laugh every time. It's gonna be wild at game 20.

Indeed. Sam Carrick was largely irrelevent. He was your standard 4th line-depth player. If we offer someone slightly better - Beau, DOC, etc - we might close the value gap between Henrique and Eller.

Henrique was scoring at a 25g pace last year. Eller is on a 30g pace and will cost $2.45mil or less. So yeah, definitely a sneaky high value chip if his play continues.

A part of me wants to say there's just no way the Pens are this bad. That they will normalize to being their usual "not a playoff team but not a cellar dweller" form.

But they are an old team that's getting older and Sullivan is a stale coach that is getting staler.

They might actually be lottery material this year regardless of Sid and Geno still being on the roster. That's a sad reality to be living in, but might be where we're at.

Eller should absolutely be gone at the TDL, for sure. And you’re right, there absolutely should be interest.

I don't know who these assholes are but they show up in my apple news feeds for hockey and their stuff is truly the worst click bait shit I've ever seen for hockey news. It's pure trash.

Just go through the headline titles of their "reports" and see how little it is for actual news.

With Sullivan at the helm, they're absolutely this bad. Even with four HHOF players on the roster and two of the best ever to do it.

Sid had one of the best seasons a 36 year old's ever had last year and they were a random late March/early April hot streak away from picking like 7th overall.
