Just consider this…where’s our win? Lol

  • Winnipeg is 4-0-0 and has outscored its opponents 18-5.
  • Calgary, too, is 4-0-0, and has nearly doubled up in outscoring its opponents, 19-10. The Penguins have not won in Calgary since Dec. 17, 2019.
  • Edmonton could be just as desperate as the Penguins, if not more so, after a 2-3-0 start, and there’s always the dynamic of Crosby and Malkin against Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. McDavid just notched his first goal, in the Oilers’ fifth game, Thursday. The Penguins last won at Edmonton on Dec. 20, 2019 and have not beaten the Oilers since a game at home Feb. 13, 2019.
  • Vancouver is 1-1-2 and also looking for its footing. The Penguins will be playing for the second consecutive night, with travel from Edmonton, while the Canucks will have been off since Tuesday.
And because it makes no logical sense, they'll go 3-0-1

Applying logic to the Pens is a dangerous game.

First, Puljujarvi is better on his off wing than Puustinen is, no shocker that Sullivan is a moron that doesn't see that. But Beauvillier, what the actual f***.

So Sullivan in practice has Bunting basically primed to be a healthy scratch but Beauvillier is still with Sid and Rust.

That trio is one of the worst first lines in the NHL.

Sullivan needs to f*** off yesterday. This is just ridiculous.

Applying logic to the Pens is a dangerous game.
Applying any sort of logic to the Penguins under this coach's leadership is lunacy.

Update on top speeds. Glass is surprising.

They actually record this stat? Do you have a link? It'd be an interesting one to keep tabs on if we ever see anyone called up and can track more players.

It's just so f***ing weird how Sullivan seems to be completely immune to criticism. They're not even pressuring him to change shit, let alone putting his job at risk.

Also Bunting's been hot traaaaaash dude. They could dump that guy tomorrow and bring up Poulin or something and I don't think the team would be any worse--and I say this as someone who thinks Poulin's a nothingmancer.

I am neither here nor there about Bunting. I think if a player struggles you try him in different usage and if it continues, you healthy scratch the player.

Beauvillier however has been swamp ass and remains in the line up, with Sid. Meanwhile Sid is awful right now with Beauvillier and Rust with his overall game. He's giving the puck away like he wants the other team to win. Beauvillier should also be a healthy scratch.

And you know what I would call up Poulin with how he's playing and put him with Eller and Puustinen.

Rakell, Crosby, Rust
O'Connor, Malkin, Puljujarvi
Poulin, Eller, Puustinen
Hayes, Glass, Acciari

lol so glad we got a roster player back for jake
He's been ass but I also don't get how you don't try him with Eller (with Puustinen) or Sid first before you decide to healthy scratch him and somehow Beauvillier is exempt from also being ass.

Bunting played Sid in that two headed monster shift. Once. Then with Eller and JP and was awful, but he was better with Glass and Acciari.

So with Sid on a normal line - no.
Ellers line - yes, it was bad.
Glass' line - yes, he was a lot better.
Geno's line - he hasn't hurt it defensively but offensively he helps control the shots just zero production.

I mean you maybe try him with Sid And Rust first before the scratch, Beauvillier though, this spastic dipshit can be ass all he wants and gets no criticism from the coach.

100%. Bunting is our 2nd most capable winger...bordering on 1st.
At least try him with Sid to see if it can work lol

Of the left wings, he most definitely can be if Sullivan finds the right usage with him and he hasn't. Beauvillier for some reason keeps getting top line usage and hasn't scored in 4 games and is useless defensively. Yet he somehow escapes all criticism from Sullivan or demotion.

Honestly I am all for pure destruction by the Jets. Just absolutely embarrass this team and franchise for backing this clown of a coach well past his best before date. I'm so f***ing over this like so many other fans.

My only regret right now is not getting the seats behind where the Pens sit for 2 periods so I can tell Sullivan off, like my wife said I probably would have enjoyed and I told her no, I would get kicked out for some the language I'd want to use.

I mean yeah, Bunting has had 58 even-strength points before.
Beauvillier's never even got 40 overall points in a season. These guys aren't the same level.

If Beau was hot atm, fine. But he's not. Pointless in 5 of 6 and L1 is getting cratered in terms of territorial play.
This should be the most obvious decision ever.

NHL Edge. They have a ton of stuff there. Not just top speed but burst over 25, shot speed, shot charts.

It’s surprising to me so few know about it. NHL pushed it pretty hard at one point last season.

The NHL site is usually ass so I end up just going to natural stat trick or hockey reference but noticed last season they had more info. Saw ads for edge and just thought it was some dumb gimmick subscription for lame nhl videos and ignored it entirely.

I know, it’s surprising when the NHL does something cool. The NHL is so bad hockey reference is usually my go to with anything besides this.

I don't disagree on Bunting and if he is being scratched for a game, fine. That said, Malkin has not produced since Bunting left his line. I think O'Connor is good for Malkin too, but Bunting-Malkin-O'Connor produced before Rust came back. So far, O'Connor-Malkin-Rakell has not. Now, they played Carolina. So, that is likely the reason. AND Malkin was not going to win the scoring title obviously. But Malkin's production is key to our playoff chances. Yeah, we needed more bottom-six production and it looks like we might have that. But we still need Crosby and Malkin to generate most of the offense.

SO, if Bunting helps Malkin get that production (without necessarily producing himself), then why tinker? Bunting is the anti-Beauvillier. Bunting makes Malkin produce points. Beauvillier turns Crosby into a bad first-line center. It's different.

Also, it was not all on Bunting the other night. Early in the game, Bunting sets up Rakell in the slot (Rakell is the shooter on this line, so this is what we want), yet Rakell decided to pass it back to Bunting. I did not understand that one!

luv 2 scratch the centerpiece of last season's big trade because im a coach who coaches good.
Id say the 2nd round pick (Brunicke) and the prospects was the main get. Bunting was a contract and a player that could step in and play for us. But hardly a center piece

Then why did we push for Bunting over other offers as was rumored? I'm happy with Brunicke, but why ask to get a player that we're not going to use instead of picks which we could have?

A few years ago nhl.com added a boatload of stats- advanced and all. Takes forever to get to where you need to be though. At least it did last time I was there.

Ya not trying bunting in another spot while gifting Beau his is very sullivan. The first line has been garbage.

Lines should be

DOC - Sid - Rust
JP - Geno - Rakell
Bunting/Beau - Eller - Puustinen
