I wouldn't mind seeing what Poulin could do with a call up, but they can't play him in a 4th line grunt role. What's the point?

Jake-Sid-Rakell
Poulin-Geno-Smith
Zoho-Eller-Rust
Hino-Acciari-DOC

/shrug
The point would be secondary scoring for Poulin. I’d also like to see Acciari at wing.

Do Nieto, Acciari and Carter all reach game 10 pointless? 🤔

Wish we would waive a D and Nieto, go 13F, and then use 2 new 4th liners. Carter hs'd.
This team's not good enough to have a line that does nothing and still make the playoffs. As we saw yesterday, even changing one winger can have a profound impact on line performance.

I was suggesting the same thing. Who are the next two forwards recalled given Poulin is hurt? White and Puus? Or one of Pitlick, Johnsson, Nylander and Hino ?

edit just checked the stats, Puus is a -6 while no one else is worse than a -3.

BUT BUT BUT He is NHL caliber

Ok, next up, let’s go. Leave the third line alone. Waive Nieto and Shea. Call up White and Hino. Sit big Jeff.
They are Not Waiving Nieto, Can you buy a clue

I'll take a stab at the winger replacement prio list atm:
Hinostroza
Nylander
White
Poulin
Puustinen
Johnsson
Pitlick

I don't believe Poulin would be next up even if healthy. Dubas said they want him developing instead of getting meager minutes at the NHL level this year.
Hinostroza's currently doing well in Wilkes, but Nylander has the experience with Sully from last year, when he played well. So it's kind of a toss up for me between those two.
White would typically be a guy Sully would take 1st, but he was such a ghost in camp that I'm not sure they'll take him when the Pens are struggling like this.

Nylander has played extremely poorly in WBS and has been a veteran scratch in several games.

Jake/Sid/Accari
Zo/Geno/Smith
Rakell/Ellers/Rust
DOC/Carter/Nieto

Graves/Letang
Petts/EK65
Shea/Ludvig

0 powerplay points for Karlsson in 5 games and it's not from lack of trying. It's easy to point out the coachs but the problem is Crosby and Guentzal channeling Ovechkin with cement in their skates. The difference is that Ovechkin parks his lawn chair in an area that's actually open. Guentzal needs to be removed from PP1 and Smith tried there, remove him from Crosby 5on5 as well. Way too much permiter play at ES because they can't drive to the net or skate hard enough to get open for a shot.

The fact they haven't made two good power play units after so many years is the stuff of pea brains.

Too many chiefs not enough indians hurts every single sport/business. It ain't new stuff. When our players just pass-pass-pass-pass-pass-pass-pass-pass, it's long been time to remove too many 'good' options and make it so where PP1 has 2-3 options (not 5) and PP2 has 2-3 options. They've looked like old men playing basketball for years now - sitting at the 3 point line afraid to do anything because their buddy may want to shoot instead.

Rust/Guentzel have good chemistry already. Stick them with Letang on PP2. Sid/Geno/EK should be far and away overkill for any NHL power play.

Anyway, it's all moot because it'll never happen. But no more moot than brainstorming how to fix a dud of a bottom 6 with AHL plugs.

I don't think it's about making 2 PP's, but I agree the PK should be Karlsson, Malkin, and Crosby. The other 2 spots should be a rotation of Guentzel, Rakell, Rust, Smith, and Letang until something clicks.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I'd even add Big Jeff to that list. Outside of Z who's not the toughest player, Carter is the biggest body they've got. His legs are shot, but park him in front of the net. He's still got offensive instincts, he just doesn't have the mobility to make them happen. That's less of an issue on the PP. He could be our version of Corey Perry. Not saying it would definitely work or even that it should be what they try first, but I'd put him on the list.

DK just said in his morning podcast (Q&A portion) that the players play like they don’t have faith that something good will happen playing Sullivan’s system…lol…if true, why hasn’t the coach been fired yet!
Yep. It's Johnston 2.0.

I think a defensemen needs to get waived and we bring up a 13th Forward. Time to start benching bottom 6 slackers. Yes we have too many of them but even if it's okay you were the worse last game it's your turn to sit. It might get some motors going.

Honestly Neito Accari Carter and DOC all need to watch atleast one game in the press box.

I think in general I agree, but let’s keep that 3L together for a few games.
