Calling up Poulin to play him on the 4th line would be an incredibly dumb move.

I'm already irritated that they're not playing Poulin in a top-6 role in the AHL, and calling him up just to play him on the 4th line is probably the only move they can make that I'd dislike more.
Wait. They aren't even playing him I'm the top 6?

Something to keep an eye on over the next few weeks. And this is without Will Butcher, who will be waived and sent down to join WBS once he is healthy.

Right now, I believe the AHL veterans in WBS are Butcher (when he's healthy), Ouellet, Fedun, Nylander, Johnsson, White and Hinostroza. I don't see who is the 8th guy there.

Puustinen hits the games played threshold but I believe the games have to come after your age 20 season, so Puustinen playing games in the Liiga at age 19 aren't included in the calculation.

Nylander isn't hurt. He was out for a personal matter.

Would Koppanen be the 8th? I didn't think he was quite at the games number.

Since he was 20, he has played in 245 AHL games and 13 Liiga games. That has him at 258 games before the season, barely coming in below the 260 threshold.

Oh okay, the 8th veteran forward is 100% Zohorna. From here:

"Professional games" include the NHL, AHL, and "elite European leagues," unless the player played in the European league while junior-aged. European leagues that count towards veteran status in the AHL are the top leagues in the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden and Switzerland

Since his 20th birthday, Zohorna has played in 159 Czech games, 35 NHL games and 102 AHL games. That has him at 296 professional games, which means he's in that "more than 260 but less than 320" AHL veteran level.

They better be show casing the vets for trade. Makes 0 sense for Poulin to not be a top 6 C.

0 sense.

I don't even see any of those vets that would be trade candidates, tbh. My guess is that Zohorna eventually comes up to the NHL and Poulin slides into the top-6 as a center. They'll have 7 veterans at that point (White, Hinostroza, Fedun, Ouellet, Butcher, Johnsson and Nylander) and they'll probably just run with 2 of Fedun, Ouellet and Butcher in the lineup.

I'd guess they'll have something like:

Pitlick-White-Hinostroza
Nylander-Poulin-Puustinen
Johnsson-Koppanen-Hayes
Ruechhoff-Gruden-Johnstone

Smith-Fedun
Hajek-Ouellet
Rathbone-St. Ivany
Samukorov-Butcher

Where they may just rotate D pairs into the lineup, where maybe Hajek-Ouellet swaps out for Samukorov-Butcher or something like that. They can run with 3 veteran D in games where one of Johnsson, Nylander, Hinostroza or White are out as well.

I'm sure it's just some dumbshit like easing Poulin back into things after a missed year. They should just put him in a 1C/1LW role and give him huge minutes, imo.

Could definitely be something on easing minutes in and conditioning because of the break. I fully got not going to the NHL right a away but let our young middle 6 C potential eat in the AHL so he can come to the NHL.

We also don't know how many minutes these guys are playing. For instance, Poulin might be listed as the 3C but on the first power play and first PK unit, or even double shifted at times.

We really need WBS to release the time on ice info that they already track.

Why would the Coyotes remotely entertain this?

They're a bottom feeder looking to rebuild, and you're talking about trading them a 29 year old impending UFA for a 19 year old lotto pick who already looks like the steal of the draft.

Nothing about that lines up. Might as well propose Rust for Bedard.

If you lot can keep imagining success with this same bs then let me have my f***ing hopes too, dipsey doodle your way on out of my hopes you wanker.

Outside of Poulin, it is about getting WB a better team. Dubas wants to have a better level of compete and Pens few prospects are not in WB. Dubas did the compromise of adding Karlsson and giving up a first round pick. I think he has some wiggle room next year but man everyone has cap space next year so I expect a very slim FA market next off season. Pens roster is pretty much set next year as well.

Rathbone. Interesting. He was allegeldy the return we'd get for Marino if he went to Vancouver.
I for one applaud Dubas' McDonalds Monopoly approach to acquiring young talent.

Sure, you probably won't get anything good...but you might get a cheeseburger or small fries fer nuthin

I despise Kan Dingerski, but count him among the many who see Carter as the weakest link in already piss poor line…lol

Yeah, I honestly can't believe what I'm reading with some of these Carter posts. I know this place is usually a pit of despair and I don't want to add to that but he's terrible and is borderline useless out there. Legs are completely gone. I will say that the move to wing has lessened his responsibilities, so thats a good thing.

I know its only been 3 games but my one complaint with Dubas so far is that they've preached competition, yet only have 12F on the roster. When is soon to be 39 year old Jeff Carter getting his AARP mandated rest day? This one is more directed at Sully but what about letting one of Shea or Ludvig try and play on their off side and let Ruh take a seat?

Just looking at our schedule, we don't play another B2B until about a month from now (3 games in 4 days Nov 16-19). An injury will almost assuredly happen before then so I guess it's not worth getting worked up over while we're winning.

I would like to see Ludvig and Hinostroza replace Ruh and Carter for a game soon for sure.

All these models seem to really love goaltending. Jfresh and Micah's always rate the Isles high and I don't think the Isles have come that close to their projections in most seasons.
