Koivunen and Pronomorev are probably #2 and #3 in the Pens system now tbh, says a lot about the Pens system but they aren’t trash. Again, I have not seen these kids play. But Prono is having a good AHL season at 21. Both have cool names.
After tomorrow, I bet both Bunting and Pronomorev are on the big club.

Kind of ridiculous that these guys are ranked 6-9 or whatever for the canes. 1 or 2 of them might already be top-5 for us lol

Hard to criticize kids I've never seen, but if we deal Guentzel and the receiving team does not have to part with any of their best FOUR prospects or their 1st round pick.... and the established player we get is an overpaid middle six tweener.... then that doesn't look great.

Anyway... hope for the best and see if we can get value above expectations for someone else. And of course pray that Sullivan doesn't get one second with these kids to taint them.

Vasily Ponomarev (that's how his name is spelled in the NHL system) has been playing in the AHL this season after recovering from an early season injury.

He's playing for Chicago Wolves, because Carolina has no AHL team. So there has been no dedicated focus on his development. And he's still acquitted himself fairly well (29 points in 39 games).

Lucius is in college but should be able to join WBS next year, as he turns 20 in April.

Koivunen has 55 points in 57 games for Karpat at age 20. He may be a darkhorse candidate to make the NHL roster next year. Karpat, by the way, also has recent Pens draft pick Emil Pieniniemi and former Pens prospect Kasper Bjorkqvist (who has just 13 points in 44 games).

Cant say I'm shocked in Smith being shipped out was nothing to start with, what a dumb f***ing trade Hextall made on that one, also was bound to get shipped out with Pickering turning pro next season.

I think it's a classic case of "Hopefully one of these players pans out to be good".

Everyone overrates what their players/prospects are worth, but man, I was really hoping for at least a 1st round pick, and not a conditional 2nd. Especially if you aren't getting a top 5 prospect.

Feels like we should have gotten at least one premium prospect or guaranteed 1st out of this but I guess not. Seems like a quantity over quality deal. Prospects are such projections though. Who knows how these guys turn out. Dubas and his staff just better be right about their evaluations of them. Only time will tell. I'll try to withhold judgement until then.
