I agree with you. Trading Jake was counterproductive. They will never get another player to do what he could do.

It’s especially concerning when you have a coach who has failed as much as ours as for the past 6 years and they could have tried a new one of those first. Seems like that would have been an easier change than an elite winger.

But since sully found the immunity idol, i understand the thought process. We need fresh legs and assets. We are getting at least one of those things in this deal.

Is it equal value? No. You never get equal or better value when moving a legit star. But it’s good value and I don’t think Dubas looks like a loser after this.

Like jaded and I have said all afternoon: it’s a shitty situation. Dubas could do everything right and there’s still a 90% chance it’s not enough. We’re old and outta time and assets. Not much hope. Rather watch Jake for the next. 3 years for sure. But they gotta go through the motions of trying.
And just to expand. Being optimistic here but you let Carts go in the off-season. Harkins gone. Puustinen/DOC seem to have the look of second line/third line tweeners. Bring up Poulin and see what hes got in the bottom 6. I'm atleast a bit intrigued by Bemstrom. Deadline tomorrow, make some moves. Smith obviously gone. Maybe Raks, idk. Maybe Eller, Ned. Seems like we can clear out a decent bit of money, even after hypothetically re-signing Jake. Go after a big fish via trade or FA this offseason. Idk that seems the best option to me, atleast for the core to try and win again. And yes, another year older. Time is running short. And theres the whole coaching thing. I do think there is a decent chance Sully goes after the year. Please for the love of god let Reirden be canned. If this team wasn't so damn dreadful on the PP I think this season is completely different. I digress, thats not the case. So maybe I'm wrong not to blow it up. I just kinda would rather that time come when it comes, because its near. But just let the ship crash and then rebuild it.

Love how Sully school this guy Dan Kingerski, he tried so hard to suck it up to him and he just harass him..Sully as arrogant piece of shit as he has been always
I wouldn't be surprised if Sully wanted out as bad as it's about to get.

Trading Jake and having him re-sign in division is lame.
Who gives a shit though? We already suck.

Jake could score 98 goals next year for Carolina and it would make no difference as far as our fortunes are concerned.

Dude Raleigh is awesome...
Sure, but the word is the organization can be miserly. What if the quality of life at the rink isn't as good? People joke about it being a country club, but the reputation the Penguins have around the league is they treat players very well.

I'm just saying -- he hasn't even played a game there. The trade isn't even official. We have no idea how Guentzel will react.

He's not our problem anymore, thank God.

wow: Mirosnichenko was diagnosed with Hodgkin's ; He recieved the call from Mario back than and told him" Life does not end . You're going to recover....and he scores here...good stuff!
Didnt Mario also call the Russian kid the Leafs drafted that had brain cancer also? Or did i just make up a false memory?

Harkins seen leaving the arena with all his hockey equipment. Trade?

Did he play tonight? That's not some pithy commentary I honestly didn't watch a second of it. From the sound of things though the team put in as much effort as I did.

Back to the point however, if he played I suspect it's far more likely he's been re-assigned rather than traded. If there was any discussion about him being sent out he wouldn't have been in.

My God our prospect pool would jump like 10 spots lol

Yeah and Jesse said in another tweet that Blake's upside is more like "Rust with way better hands". Getting those two would be awesome for the Penguins IMO.

The Canes have so many good prospects so I'm at least cautiously optimistic. Morrow seems like a given and he's really good, but what they get on top of him will determine if this trade is good or not IMO.

I think what you’re saying is all correct for the optimist side of things. And I expect most of those things to happen. I wish we’d get a real coaching / system change.
