Morrow is a very good get here. He was who I wanted in the deal. RD with size and skill. Probably got a second if they got Morrow. But if Bunting, Morrow and and second is the deal I take it.

Scott Morrow
RHD8
CAR
Height:
6' 2"
Weight:
194 Ibs
DOB:
Nov. 1, 2002

One of the most productive freshman defensemen in college hockey two seasons ago, the Minutemen’s leading scorer as a sophomore last year, and a point per game defenseman as a junior while, most importantly, playing better defensively in huge minutes (nearly 25 a night), Morrow is a real talent who made the jump from high school hockey directly into the NCAA look easy from a skill standpoint (he has had to do some maturing/growing up on and off the ice).
He’s an excellent transition defender who transports pucks confidently, plays boldly inside the offensive zone and possesses impressive handling skill for a defenseman. He’s an exit/entry machine who carves teams up through the neutral zone with head fakes, side steps and cuts (his skating impresses on its edges, even if he’s not explosive). When he’s on the ice, he wants to take over and direct play in possession and does so by guiding opposing players out of his way. On top of all that, he’s a 6-foot-2 righty whose game defensively has taken important steps to cut back on mistakes, stay in better positioning and eliminate some of the bad habits that concerned scouts. There’s real top-four upside to Morrow if he continues to round out his game. UMass has a great track record developing top defensemen, too.
(Scott Wheeler scouting report- ranks him 53 out of top 75 2024 prospects)

Wait if the return is morrow, sexy bastard, and a pick, what exactly do these dipshits tweeting think qualifies as “exciting?”

Not getting a RD to then turn him over to this group of morons called a coaching staff and think that they can actually develop him beyond an ahl cast off.

If it’s legit just Jake for an nhl top-9 guy, an A RHD prospect, and a pick, that seems fantastic for a rental.

Sorry if this makes me a dumb homer who just wants to watch Dubas f*** my sister raw while I’m sitting in a beanbag chair eating marshmallow fluff straight from the jar.

Yeah people are going to be like "why acquire Morrow when they have Letang and Karlsson above him" while ignoring:

1. They probably trade Karlsson in a year or two to get more assets.
2. Learning under Letang and Karlsson is pretty amazing for Morrow

Reminds me of when Letang marinated under Gonchar.

Scott Wheeler tabbed Carolina 13th in organization prospect ratings back in February.

1. Alexander Nikishin, LHD - Untouchable apparently, including in the rumors about Elias Pettersson
2. Bradley Nadeau LW/RW
3. Scott Morrow, RHD - Rumored to be in the Guentzel deal
4. Jackson Blake, RW
5. Jayden Perron, RW
6. Vasili Ponommaryov, C - One of the suggested potential targets, currently in AHL

Okay but we gotta separate the work the gm does from the work the coach does. This seems like a fantastic return for a rental

Anything less than Necas and Drury then it’s another bust play by your new Pittsburgh Penguins (also known as Generation X part Two).
You have clearly never followed a trade deadline with hockey then. Team's top prospects and players do not go out for rental's without extensions. You were setting yourself up for failure

The Pens minors are so bare that they can use help pretty much everywhere.

The Pens have shown us that they are not cup contenders. At best our hopes are for an entertaining ride off into the night for the core.

So who cares what position, or even if the talent is just drafted or a young roster player. If a draft pick though it better be with a higher ceiling as there is more risk.

Just give the Pens talent in return.

Sure. But we are taking Bunting back lol.

and 3. We have nobody to play behind them now. Ruhwedel is not even challenged for his spot in the lineup because the brilliant coach will not play Ludvig, T. Smith or anyone else on the right side.
