For now, I'm not as down on this trade as some. While I will express disappointment that the "we prefer quality over quantity" wasn't necessarily followed, I'm not going to act like there are all a bunch of throwaway pieces because they are not. With any trade involving picks, there's always risk. In my analysis of picks we've given away, only a small fraction (like 2 total) are "regrettable," but one got us Perron, who got us Hagelin, who was instrumental in the cup wins. So to get these three and seeing how they are trending, I'm okay with it.

I will not be jumping off any cliffs or bridges nor will sit here and bemoan Dubas.

I feel the opposite. I would rather have three lottery tickets than one.

Is the gap really that big between one of the top three or four players in the Canes' system and prospect five?

Give me three chances to hit rather than one.

Or maybe Canes fans are actually familiar with the prospects and they can give some sort of insight on them? Crazy thought.

I don't even know why I'm responding to this. It's just more nonsense, as par the course.
I’m the one who’s posting nonsense? You are literally saying it’s a good trade “because other people are telling you that.” I don’t care what another fanbase has to say about them. We got 3 prospects all ranked outside the top 5 and a conditional draft pick (with a condition that most likely isn’t going to be met) for the best available asset at the deadline when 6-7 teams were involved…. This isn’t a good thing.

Very fair. If the Rags would have done Othmann, I would have taken that. But again, I'm not mad with what we got back. I don't know if any of them are "blue chips" necessarily but what we got back are 3 Hallander/Sprong/etc like guys.

Got value for Ruh (we shouldn't care about the year the draft pick is in). Now get a pick for Ned and the minimum is done for the TDL. We don't have to rush any other moves other then Ned. The rest could wait until the off-season.

BTW - I'd be shocked if Carter got moved as a UFA.

Our long nightmare is over! A 3rd pairing of Graves + Ludvig is capable of being a non-disaster, though even Graves and Ruh had been OK.

Too bad our "first" pairing is a nightly clown show.

lol… so because other fans tell you the deal is good that makes it good? Let’s trade Harkins for a 7th and tell the opposing fanbase it’s a great deal then. Again Dubas didn’t even get an unconditional 1st round pick back… think about that. He couldn’t even pull an unconditional first with 6 or 7 teams bidding for the guy….and I’m supposed to think it’s great because the team acquiring the guy tells me the prospects are good? They aren’t even ranked in Carolina’s top 5 lol
You’re putting way too much stock in a bunch of insiders who ALL turned out to be wrong. Local, national, and Canadian media. Not a single one of them said “Dubas left a better deal on the table for this return” because as they showed last night they have no freaking idea.

They hypothesized, said it was from source so we would all click on it and share it. That’s their job, but none of them are trustworthy or good at conjecture

Because you've done literally no evaluation of the prospects beyond seeing where they rank in Carolina's prospect pool and claiming it's a bad trade because of that.

Yeah, you're the one posting nonsense. Canes fans who have actually done a bit of research on these prospects speak well of them. That is worth way more than your lazy analysis.

I wouldn’t have dealt with Carolina with this being the offer… I fully believe a better offer was out there and Dubas didn’t take it because of quantity and an infatuation with a former player. This deal screams “I said I wanted to get younger so look, here’s 3 prospects guy, I meant what I said!”

Did I really read a 2027 draft pick coming back?

Not that I mind. You make that trade every day of the week.

But that is about as far down the road that a team could reasonably trade away futures. I have never seen a trade with futures more years away.

I guarantee you not one of those fans is even remotely upset at the prospects that just left. There isn’t a guy on that list they just gave up that those same fans are thinking “man that’s tough to part with.” Your only point for this trade being good is “other people are telling me it is!” That’s what’s nonsense

I would love to be a fly on the wall of both offices as they negotiate those trades. I can't fathom Dubas or Drury keeping a straight face.

"Lol, okay a 4th in 2027. Deal"

Ruhwedel is a good dude, but that's a perfectly reasonable trade.
Other then Sully's usage of the guy, I had no strong feelings one way or the other about him, he is what he is a solid 7th D who shouldn't be playing more then 25-30 games a season.

Pretty sure Harkins had another concussion
Has that stopped him the past 3 games? He just regenerates.

you know what, why not? nothing about the power play works anyway, so might as well try the new toy.
That's pretty much the only role Bunting really fills tbh. He's a whatever middle-6 guy, but he's good at being a shithead around the net.
