Feel better about this being at home as both Penguin debacles were in Pittsburgh.

I understand the argument for going Campbell against Pittsburgh. But I wouldn't mind Woll this game. Gives Campbell an extra day. But also, if the atmosphere on the island is gonna be a shit fest with idiots booing and throwing rubber snakes and shit like that, maybe it's best Campbell is in for that one.

That extra day of rest for Campbell is really the only reason I'd opt to start Woll against Pittsburgh. I'd still prefer that the Leafs don't concern themselves too much with the opposition and just try to get the full complement of points from the game that I consider to have the more likely win scenario in any B2B though. Both the Leafs and NYI figure to be "tired" for the second game. However, the Leafs will be the team that had to travel (even if it's not all that much of a trip).

The last time these two teams played, it was horrendous for the Maple Leafs.

This was how the Penguins curb stomped the Leafs. When the Leafs got the puck into the offensive zone, the Penguins tried their best to get it out, and the rout was on. That was all they ever did.

Toronto in that game seemed like in complete disarray. All Pittsburgh did was get it out, and get it in deep. The Leafs could not handle that. That was shocking to watch.

Since then, things have changed.

What has not changed is the lack of scoring.

But that does not matter, because the Leafs can win these low scoring games. They got the personnel up front, and they have a top 4 D at the back. Sandin probably the most improved player this season.

It probably was those shut outs against Las Vegas and Philadelphia, that spoke a clear message to the Leafs players that maybe they can play that kind of low scoring game.

Since then, this team is very confident. 1 goal can actually hold up.

Get 1 or 2 goals, Leafs are in a very good position to win.

That makes this Saturday night game very interesting. Penguins like to do the same, get 1 or 2 goals and have that hold up too.

Let's watch and see how mistake free will the Leafs play. That is the key for this Leafs team to win, cut down on the mistakes defensively.

Give up no chances, and get 1 goal 5 on 5 and 1 goal on the power play, and these Leafs winning probably over 75%. OMEGA!

I'd pretty much bet after the last couple back to backs we've seen... Campbell is in net tomorrow.

Go for the W against Pitts at home.

Hope your boys score some goals in NY. Isles play tomorrow too so other than a short flight not much of an excuse. Put Woll in. May be his last game once Mzarek is good to go.

Penguins finished 1st in the "toughest division in hockey" last year, are getting healthy and still have wins over Tampa, Florida and the Leafs this year with their supposed "AHL team" so this is as big a game as any.

Impressive.

Very good underlying numbers too.

What I learned about the leafs this week

Jack Campbell actually sucks and isn't an NHL starter. But he's the only reason we're winning, playing at an elite level. But he sucks and is a back up. The forwards suck and are getting carried by Campbell, who by the way, actually sucks too. They're all PPG+ in the last stretch, but they suck and have played terrible and need to produce better than PPG+ if we're expected to win.

Lets hope this shitty team that sucks all around can get it done tonight...:sarcasm:

After the last Pens game the boys need to come out looking for blood off the opening faceoff. Keep playing how they've been playing and we'll be fine. Revenge game, take it to them.

Fine decision as long as they use their 7th d man in this case Dermott tomorrow. Maybe I am too worked up over using rested players but in early back to back's, just use them. Kind of thought the D would stay the same after 2 excellent performances though.

Saturday night, Crosby back for a few games now. They buried the Habs last game (not hard these days) He'll be pumped to play on HNC. These are 2 tough but winnable games this weekend. If we split, I'll be happy, if we keep playing well we should win both, and I'll be ecstatic. If we lose both, It would be a disappointment, but I wouldn't be shocked, I would be avoiding this forum for a few days though. Real test for Woll on the road, second half of a B2B. Facing a struggling Isles team will be a challenge though. Playing Tavares will have them amped up again. (they are also playing the Flames tonight, so they won't have that advantage, but sit at home overnight waiting for the leafs to fly in)
