I think the main reason is 16 and 34 want to play together and that’s that

I'd look to trade muzzin in the offseason as well and go hard after Lindholm.

Muzzin has a full NTC until his last year. Don't think he is going anywhere

Tavares becomes a non factor when Marner is not.
Matthews is fine with Nylander and the team has 2 effective lines.
Right now they are a one line team just like last year.

I dont understand the lines. Maybe the strategy is that they really want Ritchie in the top 6 and the only way his line doesnt completely crater is by putting him with M&M.
